Still having issues with unlocked note 3 and software updates.

Hello, I tried seeking helpa bout this issue a few days ago, but to no avail. I have a factory unlocked (by AT&T) galaxy note 3 that is currently being used on another network. The lollipop update was pushed out on the 24th and while I'm aware I can't get the automatic notification from att since I'm not on their network, I've attempted numerous times to manually go through the software update option in about phone, it says I'm up to date. Samsung kies is also telling me the same thing.

 

My question is, can I get the update without rooting or flashing anything new? I can wait for the update from AT&T, i just need to know if it's a matter of I haven't gotten it pushed to me yet, or I won't be getting it at all. Thanks!

I’d be happy to help with your software update!

 

As the device is not currently connected to the AT&T network, it would not be possible to download the AT&T update over-the-air. Samsung Kies does not appear to support the updating of AT&T software I’m afraid. One option would be to bring the device by your nearest Samsung Experience Shop, located inside select Best Buy stores. To find the closest location to you, click here!

@ATTMobilityCare, I went and spoke to a samsung experience place at best buy. They told me two things. One, they didn't want to deal with it because it was an unlocked phone and that they might remove my unlock if they updated it. I know this isn't true because they ran the IMEI and it is a permenant unlock DIRECTLY FROM AT&T. They also said they didn't have AT&T's specific firmware yet. I'm getting a ton of different answers, the representative a the device support center said there were at least 5 people that came in that same day with the same phone, having the same exact issue and they were on the ATT network... I've recieved updates in the past via the software update in the settings app, and it seems this is just a problem with the note 3. I can wait, I just would like a concrete answer as I don't want to be waiting for nothing.

we can give you the anwser it wont be updated.  I can see this happening now with all the BYOD plans out there.  ATT is choosing to limit the software support if you leave ATT(which is ATT's right since they own the software on the device).  This has been a problem since the S5.  And samsung Kies 3 is a joke anymore since for some reason the update thru there was pulled.

I’m sorry to hear that the Samsung Experience Shop does not yet have the latest software to flash. The issues the Device Support Center will have been referencing will have been due to the customer’s AT&T accounts not having the correct device information which would prevent the update from being pushed out to them. As you are not using your device on an AT&T account, you would not receive the update over-the-air. The update will need to be flashed manually to the device.
