Slow Text Messaging - Samsung Galaxy S5

It takes a minute...literally...60 seconds to send a text message.  I watch that little circle spin and spin and spin, all the while I receive other text messages, which makes my still pending text message irrelavant.  I have a Samsung Galaxy S5.  I wish I could say this was specific to the handset, but this is a new replacement.  My old Galaxy S5 had the same issues.  I have cleared my cache, checked for updates, I have a ton of free space on my phone.  Yet nothing helps.  Per the AT&T map, my house is "allegedly" in the heart of 4G LTE coverage.  But that is where I have the worst service.  I'm lucky if I get one bar.  Please help before I throw this phone in the street.

Do you have a lot of text messages on the device? If so that may be the culprit. I have to delete my text message threads from time-to-time when using the stock text messaging app. I have since moved to a third-party text messaging app (Textra) and I haven't experienced these issues with that app. You can try deleting all (or most) of your text messages to see if that speeds it up, or you can try using a third-party text messaging app (again, I recommend Textra, but opinions vary), or both. If neither of those help then it is likely an issue with the handset needing to be replaced, factory reset, or upgraded to a different device (I haven't heard of this being a known issue with the S5's, but that doesn't mean it isn't an issue specific to that handset). Best of luck.
