Samsung Tab 8 asks for a password during setup

We use this device for work and it got passed to another staff person. They're trying to set it up but during the setup, after selecting the wifi network, the person is asked to enter a password or use their Google credentials. The window does not specify what password is required, so we tried the wifi password and the person's Google password, but neither work. We cannot get past this screen. What do we do?

We can help you set up your Samsung Tab, @elopez_grid.

We're not sure Samsung makes a Tab 8. Are you working with a Samsung Tab A 8.x instead? It sounds like Find My Mobile is enabled which protects private data and can be used to find the tablet if its lost or stolen.

You'll need to sign into the Samsung Account which must have been used by the original employee. You can sign in with the Samsung account information, or with Google from another tablet, or computer to turn off Find My Mobile, then set up the Tab with the new user credentials.

We recommend speaking with the person who used it first, or your IT administrator if you're unable to turn off Find My Mobile.

Please let us know when you're able to set up the Tab. Thank you!
