S7 Active does not work with Android Auto...
I was very excited about upgrading to the S7A yesterday but that soon disappeared after realizing that this device does not work with android auto because of how AT&T modified marshmallow. After doing some research I found out this is the case with the regular S7 on AT&T as well (and AT&T still has not released a fix....) I have tried the developer mode trick out there on the internet without positive results. You shouldn't have to do that anyway? I have also done full resets on my pioneer nex4200 as well as my brand new S7A. Android Auto works just fine S6A before and after the device resets. What is the deal AT&T? When will this be fixed?

Hi @Philschmitt77
Thank you for contacting AT&T through Community Forums! We definitely apologize for the inconvenience of the Android Auto not working for you in your vehicle.
The Android Auto is going to be a Google product and service. Android Auto is going to be dependent on the phone being in the vehicle.
Are you connecting through the USB cable or the Bluetooth connection?
For additional information, you can click on Android Auto.
For troubleshooting through Google, you can click on My Android Auto app isn’t working.
Hope this helps! Thank you for choosing AT&T!

Unfortunetly this is not helpful. As you can see from my post I have covered the topics in the help article. The only thing I did not try in the FAQ was the try it in a diffrent car. I have now tried that an it fails as well. I have also called Pioneer Tech support as well as a friend of mine @ google and they both point back to issues with the device based on what I have tried?
What is AT&T doing to resolve this issue?
Many other articles on there out there in internet for this issue on the S7, S7E, S7A if you are not aware of them I will be happy to post them here for you.

I have seen threads where people state the Verizon S7E didn't work either.

So MTP works when connected?

FYI...It DOES work with S7 Active. It was a pain in the ars to figure out bot it does work. Turn on MTP and also turn on USB debugging. Now go into the Android Auto on the radio (in my case its the OEM built-in car compter) and if you see your S7 android already detected, delete it thru the radio/computer and when it starts to re-detect hit the add device button on the radio/computer. If these are not the exact steps for you just know that it DOES work and just keep plugging away at it until you figure out your setup.
Hope this helps...

I have tried all of these "band aids". No luck here. Really disappointed in this.

Its a problem with the 4200nex for some reason pioneer is having problems with samsung phones. I can tell you tho its pioneer only since I am using AA with a s8+ and the daughter has a aa with a s7 active. All are factory Hyundai head units.
try this
1. enable developers options(google to find out how)
2. In the Developers Option under the USB Configuration options, I changed it from charging to MTP (Media Transfer Protocol).

Hello all,
Just got my S7 Active yesterday and also had issues with AA. There was an update to AA today I believe. I too have the Pioneer 4200NEX. I followed all the steps above. USB debugging, mtp, etc. No luck. Found a YouTube video where someone stated to use the actual white USB cable that came with the phone.
Before I tried that, I uninstalled AA. Wiped cache and data too. Reinstalled then tried the white Samsung cable that came with the phone. AA worked fine. I tried the previous cable and had issues. I also tried another cheap USB cable that I had lying around and AA again did not work.
I bought a bunch of Anker USB cables from Amazon a couple of months ago and tried those, AA worked fine. So between the white Samsung USB cable and the Anker USB cable, AA now works fine on my 4200NEX. I tried it half a dozen time btw.
Hope this helps. Try a good USB cable and see what happens.
