received unexpected Chromecast devices supposedly from AT&T -- is this legit?

Two boxes arrived by UPS with a Chromecast in each, from "ATT RLO 13500 Independence Pkwy, Fort Worth, TX 76177". The paper inside says it was part of Pixel promo. I did buy a Pixel phone from ATT many many months ago and was not aware of any Chromecast giveaway at the time. I imagine this is likely a legitimate promotion that got messed up in execution, but just want to make sure it's not some bizarre phishing scam. Any clues appreciated.

Exactly how are they phishing?  🤨

No request for your information was made, and chromcast just casts internally.

Yes it's part of the promotion.  It usually takes 6 to 8 weeks, but longer would not surprise me.

Hi @tfe0,

Thank you for reaching out and congratulations on getting the Chromecast 4K.

If you purchased a Google Pixel 5 or Pixel 4a between November 20, 2020 and April 1, 2021, you are automatically eligible for the offer.

If you got 2 of it and you purchased only one Pixel device, you may return one with the return label enclosed in the box or visit your local AT&T store for assistance.

If you need more assistance, please let us know.

AT&T RLO messes up addresses all the time.  I have a box from them sitting on my desk with a smartphone that should have been sent to a coworker, instead they shipped it to me.  This is probably the two dozenth time they have shipped phones or SIM cards to me instead of the actual person who should have received them.  Get your s*** together AT&T RLO.

we just got a ATT phone from RLO, but we don't remember ever ordering it. We don't know why or where it came from. We can't find anywhere that we were charged. How could this happen?

Me too! I remember getting a text saying this android phone was on its way. Since I didn’t order this I deleted the text and a week later the phone arrived. No one ordered it. “AT&T Motivate” What do I do with it now?

Perhaps your current phone is about to become obsolete come next year when AT&T will only support phones that have an AT&T-certified implementation of VoLTE and they sent you free phones so you can still have your service.

I received an upgraded iphone for work.  The phone came from somewhere in Pennsylvania, and the over priced shoddy case came from this facility.  Nonetheless, I can't seem to get the phone set up correctly.  It's an iphone 13.  It will receive calls, but not make them.  The old one (iphone 8) works fine.  Frankly I don't see much difference between the 8 and the 13.  If any AT&T employees are still monitoring this page, I'd appreciate some advice.  I've tried all the recommended things I've found on the web (turn on/off airplane mode), etc.   The "SOS" mode still appears at the top.  Thanks.

@CapeCodMark  your question has nothing at all to do with Chromecasts arriving unexpectedly.  Please create your own thread by clicking the "Ask a question" link at the top of the page.
