RCS not working for all people since getting S22

Since getting my new S22, RCS no longer works with my wife.  We are both on AT&T branded Samsung phones and using Google Messages.  We both have chat features enabled.  The only difference is that mine says it's "powered by AT&T" while hers says "powered by Jibe Mobile".  Does AT&T's RCS seriously not interact with Jibe Mobile RCS?  Furthermore, why wouldn't there be consistency within AT&T on this?  They are both AT&T phones purchased through AT&T and used on the AT&T network.

This is absolutely ridiculous. My girlfriend and I got new s22 ultras on separate at&t accounts and rcs is not working with anyone... period. I have literally tried everything including sideloading the latest non samsung version of google messages and swapping my sim card in the store. Everything worked great with our old phones with rcs on googles servers but when at&t messes with them they all of sudden don't work at all... and these vague platitudes that we're working on the issue just isn't doing it for me. I've been an AT&T customer since they were called cingular wireless and I think it's time for a change. Should be able to trade these brand new ultras for a deal somewhere else.

@Aeveryone dude the frustration is mutual, took all of the same steps as you including the ones you didn't mention that I know you did. Spoke to Google for about an hour today and they said they'd "pass along the feedback."

I factory reset my phone and the same APK that I had used (emailed myself the link to it) suddenly had more features than before, like being able to sign-in to my Google account etc. Did the same thing on my wife's and she has the exact same thing except she's missing the iPhone reaction feature.

AT&T needs to revert everything back to Google servers until their RCS network is complete and interoperable between carriers.

And Samsung needs to update the heck out of their Google Messages skin or abandoned it completely, hopefully the latter.

All of this. ATT has broken RCS. It worked great with the old version of Google Messenger. Why break something that works? A prepaid phone can do what this phone cannot. I've been with ATT for 15 years and I am considering changing carriers. Other carriers are not doing this.

Same here w/ RSC but now having frequent wifi drops (connected without internet.) This is rapidly deteriorating into a horrible user experience. Seriously contemplating returning it and going back to my old but trusted and reliable Note 10+.

I find it amazing when I call into AT&T support that multiple reps have never heard of RCS/Advanced Messaging at all. What?!  I have a brand new AT&T branded S22 purchased from Samsung direct that I am using w/ AT&T Prepaid. I am reading in some places that RCS is only compatible w/ Postpaid plans. I went to Reddit and posted and multiple people on prepaid are using RCS (but seems like they are on Google Pixel devices not on a Samsung device). Will it work on prepaid w/ an S22 or not? I have tried all the steps too w/ the carrier services and messages app clearing cache. I went to the google link to try to enter my # to disable chat features (just to be safe but only ever used the Samsung messages on my S21) and it gives me some message to contact my carrier. I can't see how this would not work on prepaid? I have wifi calling, VOLTE and other "super advanced features...very sarcastic" working but no dice w/ RCS. It constantly stays stuck in "trying to verify phone #" when I switch chat features to "on". Any help....most especially from fellow prepaid users? Thanks!

i think the stuck trying to verify phone number is a separate issue. I googled that one and for some reason it won't authenticate if you are connected to wifi. I had this problem at first and was able to clear the cache on messenger, turn off wifi and reboot. Then it showed connected but none of the chat features work no matter who I'm texting which is very frustrating. hopefully they resolve this soon or I'm changing carriers.

@Dplace4u this has nothing to do with disabling chat features ahead of time.  This is AT&T forcing us into an unfinished product and still not giving any clear answers as to why or for how long.

@Dplace4u that's really good of you to point out! Thanks. But it has nothing to do with what we're talking about here.

I switched from an AT&T branded Samsung Galaxy S9+ which showed chat services powered by Jibe. I am now on an AT&T branded Samsung Galaxy S22 and in my Messages app it shows chat services powered by AT&T. I activated the phone yesterday and all day it showed that it was verifying my phone number. This morning, it switched to connected for chat status but all of my messages are still going through as SMS with no capability to switch to chat. Fix your stuff AT&T, this is annoying. I chatted with a "support rep" who "refreshed the signal to my phone" yesterday which of course did nothing and said someone from the engineering team would get back to me in a couple of hours. That was yesterday.

RCS interoperability is currently available between AT&T and T-Mobile RCS enabled devices for 1:1 chat only. RCS interoperability with other carriers is currently planned to be available to customers by mid-2022. Fun fact: Advanced Messaging from AT&T is currently interoperable with Cricket, leveraging several AT&T RCS network elements.

Does this mean that existing devices on AT&T's legacy RCS will be upgraded to interoperate with other carriers in mid-2022 as well?
