Problems with the phone on Sony Ion since update to ICS

I recently updated the os on my Sony Ion to ICS.  After the update it was glitchy.  It used up the battery very quickly, and ran much slower.  But it did still work.  I could send and receive calls and texts.  Well, for two days I could.  Then the phone shut and would not charge from the wall charger.  I eventually plugged it into my computer and it began to charge.  I searched the sony mobile forums and was told I should run the phone through the software repair option as this should fix it.  I reluctantly did that and was pleased to see a much better response from the os.  It did not seem glitchy or slow. It was indeed fast and responsive. Of course, I had to restore all of my apps because it had wiped the phone. Oh well, at least it worked.  Until I tried to make a call.  The person I called couldn't hear me.  I hung up and they called me.  Still they couldn't hear me.  I am now unable to use the phone portion of my smartphone.  So do I need to run the repair again?  Or should I do a factory reset and see if it works then.  I hope I don't need to deal with the horrors of the Warranty Service. Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks for the input wilcre.  I already had to do the phone repair option once to get the glitchy ICS update fixed.  It worked but was a hassle to get everything back like I'd had it before.  I wasn't looking forward to having to do it again or doing a factory reset.  As often happens I found the answer not on an ATT site or even a Sony site.  I found the answer at XDA.  Here is the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=529449.  In this thread it says to plug in your headphones, start some music and unplug the headphones.  Sounds too simple.  But it worked.  When I plugged the headphones in I got the Smartconnect popup telling me that headphones had been detected.  When I unplugged them, I got a popup saying that the phone mic was activated.  I made a call and sure enough the person on the other phone could hear me talking.  That hadn't happened for about 5 days.

I would go with the factory reset myself.
