Numbersync Error

I just got a new Galxaxy Tab E from AT&T and really like it, however I am having an issue with it.  When I go to use the Numbersync feature, it walks me through setup  and then when its done tells its signing in then a few minutes later tells me "Registration Failed"

Any ideas on this one?

Hi there @scott_greczkowski!

I’m glad you’re enjoying your new tablet, but I definitely understand wanting to get the most out of it with Numbersync!

What kind of smartphone are you attempting to sync it to? It will need to be HD voice capable and have it enabled (typically on androids this is somewhere like Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks > Mobile Data > Enhanced LTE)

Additionally you will have to login in to the Numbersync page with a User ID that uses that smartphone’s phone number as its primary number.

Also be sure that your tablet has a data connection of some kind to receive the Sync request!

I hope you find that helpful Scott! Have a great one, and thanks for reaching out!

Hi Keven

To answer your questions my current phone is an iPhone 6S Plus, however I will be moving to the new Samsung Galaxy Note 7 when its released (I preordered it from AT&T.)

I am able to login to the numbersync with my phone number and password, however when I try to register the Galaxy Tab E to Number Sync, I get the error message "registration failed"  The Galaxy Tab E has 4G service from AT&T and has full bars.

The local AT&T store here was unable to help.

Thanks.

Hello again @scott_greczkowski!

Thanks for keeping up with us!

The problem very well may be the fact that you are trying to sync it to an iOS device. We’re working on cross-platform support for this, however it can still encounter many issues.

It sounds like you have everything else in order, here’s a great article that details the various requirements for syncing devices to your iPhone!

I hope that helps clear things up! Have an amazing day!

I am having the same issue with my Windows phone. I have checked everything and still no luck. Any solutions, yet?

@bweston   What phone do you have?   Number sync only works with HD voice and advanced calling features.  It unlikely that your windows phone qualifies.  If that's the case, it's not broken at all, it's working as it should.

A second look at the list of devices and I don't see any windows phones included.

I have Lumia 950. It has HD voice. I can see it in the AT&T settings for the Numbersync in my account. And, it has the numbersync under the account settings for the phone. I have read that many are having issues with other phones as well.

You need to check with support to see if it's compatible.  ATT has no windows phones on the list and none for sale.

I search and could not see any list of devices. I have three other people interested in this but are waiting to see if it is going to work with their phones. Also if it does not work, then why is it listed on my account under my phone? Why, is my phone on the numbersync settings? What are the other factors, then HD voice, does the phone need?

If they have a windows phone, they should pass. It works fine between the Samsung galaxy S7 and Tab E. I did have to change my password. Secondary lines on an account need a different user ID and password.

It needs enhanced LTE services...  It controls WiFi calling(which I know the 950 does not support) video calling advance messaging and numbersync.  Just because you have HDvoice does not mean numbersync will work even tho ATT's site is stupid and says you need hdvoice which is what they are calling enhanced LTE services.  Windows phones are not that common these days and ATT and all carriers for that matter have pretty much dropped support for them.

@GLIMMERMAN76   Thanks, I should have tagged you as I suspected that was it.

For the record, do any windows phones have advance calling?  Is there a list of eligible phones?

It is a shame as I find the Windows Phone better for syncing across my computers far better then the others. As for a business, use it is great to have that. The only issue I have with Windows Phones is the lack of applications and support from some cell services.

Thay maybe but its going no where thanks to microsoft....  Its a niche os that never took off.  We will see now that windows is going to support ARM but I look for it to be limited to laptops and tablets for the time being as the dont want a showdown with google and apple.

I don’t think it as much of a do not want a showdown as it has lost its guidance.

Something is lacking for sure.  How many years have windows people been looking for a Surface phone?   The surface is Probably the best tablet out there, so a surface phone would have been a hit.

Missed the boat
