Nokia 7.2

AT&T,

I have a Nokia 7.2 with Android one, that supports VOLTE. VOLTE worked with it on your network from October 13th, 2019 until January 28th 2020 at which point it quit working. I have tried trouble shooting every which way and have gotten nowhere. Now you sent me an email saying that my phone will no longer work with your network starting in 2022 because it does not support VOLTE. My phone does support VOLTE and it does work on your network. Can you add support for my phone?? It's really annoying that you supported my phone for months and then out of nowhere decided to drop support. It's also infuriating that you are now trying to pull a 180 and tell me that my phone does not work on your network when it clearly did. Please help.

We're sorry for the confusion, @boredoflife.

We have to evolve Americas best and fastest network, so 3G is going away to bring you faster speeds and new features.

As you mentioned, we recently began sending emails about the changes. We encourage you to consider moving to newer devices which support 4G, & 5G for stronger network connections, improved bandwidth, and a better overall experience.

Please let us know if we can provide suggestions for new device upgrades. Thank you!

Come on get a clue.  Att is saying phones that support all those things won't work because your engineers are lazy.  That phone supports volte on any carrier BUT att.

I checked with Nokia and they claim that AT&T needs to push an update on their end. I get an error saying, "Network or sim card error" when I go to my phone app --> (three dots) --> settings --> calls --> additional settings. I tried their suggestion of clearing cache and app data but nothing seems to be working. Perhaps this is an issue on their end but both parties appear to be pointing fingers at each other. To be clear Kenny my phone absolutely has VOLTE you can look on Nokia's website.

Thanks for posting back, @boredoflife.

It must be frustrating for you to be going back and forth. AT&T does not provide software updates for non-AT&T branded devices. We're sorry for the confusion. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you.

If you purchased a Nokia 7.2 and still have voice service that is because 3-g Towers in your area have not yet been shut down. But as you noticed the link GlimmerMan posted earlier, it's not VoLTE approved for AT&T.

If you have already lost voice service oh, that means 3-g Towers in your area have already been turned off.

Ultimately your choice will be to change Networks, or replace the phone if you wish to stay with AT&T.
