Network lock on ZTE Z988

Hello. I have a ZTE grand Max 2. Z988

IMEI [edited for privacy – please do not post personal information]

I got it from my grandma. She got a new phone (galaxy j3) and let me have this one because Ijust love it.  So I was hoping to just switch the SIM card over and the ZTE would connect through at&t. But it's asking me for a network code! Please help.  It's locked I tried resetting it. I need the code

Good morning @ummlylah,

I know how exciting it is to find a phone which is a joy to use. We certainly want you to be able to utilize your preferred device on our network. I’ll be happy to provide some information.

You will need to reach out to the past carrier to have it unlocked. This shouldn’t be an issue as long as it meets requirements for the previous provider.

Let me know if you have any additional questions.  Have a lovely day!

We'll be happy to assist you with getting this device unlocked @yeni09.

If your boss is the original owner of the device, they'll need to unlock the device for you. It sounds like you may need a PUK code to unlock the SIM. If so, your boss can follow these steps:

  1. Go to the account overview and open the My wireless section.
  2. Scroll to My devices & add-ons and choose the device that needs a PUK code.
  3. Select Manage my device.
  4. Under See device options, select Get your PIN unlock key (PUK).

If the device just needs a general unlock from our network, your boss can confirm that the device meets all of the eligibility requirements and then submit a request via the portal

If you have any additional questions, we invite you to create your own thread so that we can further assist you; since this is an older post, the moderators may close it.
