My at&t primetime tablet will not turn on

My primetime tablet will not turn on, the red light flashes as if charging while on the charger, unplug it and it stops. But will not turn on using any of the options for doing so. Acts like its just dead, won't light up or let me access any function, just black screen. The tablet is only 2 years old.

Do you recall when you notice that your tablet was not working?
Is there any physical damage or possibly internal damage you may have?
Do you have warranty or insurance on your tablet?

It is 2 years old, no warranty, no damage of any kind, never been dropped. I just got up yesterday morning and the tablet would not turn on or anything. Yesterday afternoon it came on for about 10 minutes, I was playing a game and it just went black. Today I got it to power on, it went through the motions of powering up and then went to black.
