Locked phone bought on eBay

Hi, I live in Canada and on a very tight budget. My phone broke down and I needed a budget replacement phone. Found one on eBay in new condition. So I bought it. It's a Motorola G Play 2021 and it's locked to AT&T. I thought I would unlock it using an online service. Didn't work. Is there a way to ask AT&T to unlock the phone for me? Even if I need to pay a small amount. Otherwise I can't use the phone at all and I'm stuck with a small tablet without a phone forever?

Thanks and have a good day.

Unfortunately, no, you cannot get the phone unlocked.  Your best option is to try for a refund or replacement if that's possible, or perhaps a complaint to eBay if the device you received was not as described and/or is not usable due to an undisclosed condition, e.g., it's locked and it's not unlockable.

Was the phone advertised as unlocked? Or unlockable? Contact the seller and see if it's something they will fix it for you by getting the phone unlocked. Otherwise AT&T isn't going to help you as a non customer.
