LG V35 will not prompt to enter activation/unlock code

My AT&T phone, an LG V35 ThinQ, has been approved to be unlocked through the Device Unlock Portal. I have received the unlock code and followed the steps provided by AT&T to enter the code:

1. Power off the device

2. Insert a non AT&T SIM card

3. Power on the device

4. Enter the Unlock code provided

This method does not result in a window appearing to enter the unlock code and unlock the device.

I have also tried to dial #7465625*638*# with and without a SIM card inserted to force the Activation Prompt window to appear.

I am using a Metro (PCS/by T-Mobile) SIM card.

Please advise.

Hi @Butter440,

Thanks for reaching out! We'd love to assist.

It's definitely strange that your device isn't prompting the unlock screen. Are you currently able to use the device, regarding calls or texts? Are you able to use any function on the device that requires a cellular connection? We want to make sure that the device isn't somehow already unlocked. Otherwise, the steps you're following now should've prompted an unlock screen.

We look forward to your response!

@ATTHelp Thank you for your prompt response. The phone in question is a new AT&T phone. I am trying to use this phone with a different carrier. I have performed the necessary steps to unlock the phone through AT&T's Device Unlock portal. My request was approved and I received a code to unlock the device. I followed AT&T's steps to turn the phone off, insert a non-AT&T SIM card, and turn the phone back on. I did not receive a prompt to enter the code provided by AT&T.

Thanks for the reply @Butter440

In order to gain clarity with your device unlock, can you answer the following questions:

  •  Are you currently able to use the device, regarding calls/texts/cellular connection after inserting the other carrier's SIM card?
  • After placing the new SIM card (other wireless carrier) into the LG phone, did a pop-up notification on the phone asked for you to input the unlock code?
  •  Did you receive any other error messages when using the unlock code that was provided by AT&T? If so, what does the error message say?

Fill us in more specific details for further review. We're ready to help.

I am unable to make calls/texts or use cellular service with another carrier's SIM card.

A pop-up notification did not appear when I turned the phone on after inserting the non AT&T SIM while the phone was off.

A pop-up notification did appear when the non AT&T SIM card was inserted while the phone was on. This notification read "Phone not allowed MM #6".

I am unsure as to whether the device has been on the AT&T network for at least 60 days. The phone was purchased new and I am not an AT&T customer.
