LG V20 H910 vs H910A

Does anyone know the difference between the LG V20 H910 and H910A?  I see references that the H910A is just the factory unlocked version.  I currently have an H996, but there doesn't appear to be a way to get the security updates for it.  With the cost of the V20 coming down, I'd be willing to pick up an H910A as long as I know I'll get the security updates.  I don't want to be in the same boat as the H996.

Also, why hasn't AT&T dropped the price of the V20 from their store?  The V30 is currently listed as $20 cheaper.  The V20 should be half the cost (or even less) than the V30 by now.

Hello @bhelman!

I understand you have some questions about some LG devices.  We understand you wanting to be informed about security updates and if and when they will be installed.  I will be happy to my best to answer all of your questions.

1.  The only difference I find between the LG V20 H910 and the LG V20 H901A is the second device is unlocked and can be used on any network.

2.  Security updates have to be released by LG and then vetted by AT&T.  We cannot say or guarantee a security release will be released on any particular phone model.  I will tell you we do spend a lot of time testing a release before unveiling to the public.

3.  The price point for the LG V20 has not gone down because LG as not lowered the price it charges us for the phone.  We do not make profits on the devices themselves.  We make money on the plans, services, and features we offer.

Thank you for utilizing the Community Forums, and have a wonderful weekend.

I need a more thorough answer from ATT before I buy this model.

- I need an unlocked international model, not an unlocked regional model. To be compatible from the start with Fonic (O2) or Vodaphone in Germany or Italy.

- does it matter at all for European use which carrier's GSM SIM card I use in the US?

- does it matter which carrier plan I use in the US for signal strength, WiFi 5 GHz network access?

- is the mfr warranty the same for an LG H910a unlocked as for an H910 ATT locked?

I purchased the H910A and have been very happy with it. The warranty was
not 1 year. This may have been because I bought it from a reseller. That
reseller did offer inexpensive 3-year warranties, so I purchased that.

You need to look at the bands each model supports and look at the bands
used by the carriers you tend to use. Here is a great source for the phone
bands:

https://www.techwalls.com/lg-v20-model-numbers-differences/

If the phone is unlocked, it doesn't matter where you use it, but make sure
the model supports all of the bands used by the carrier or you may have
signal issues.

If you only want to use the phone on WiFi with a 3rd party VoIP, then it
doesn't matter which model you use. Be aware that some functions (e.g WiFi
calling and Visual Voicemail) are carrier-dependent. If you don't use the
H910A on AT&T, it is possible you won't get updates.

This phone does support 801.11n and ac, and appears to have a very good
5GHz radio.

I hope this helps.
