LG G5 Power Button Unresponsive

My LG G5 battery died last night so I put my phone on the charger. When I saw that the battery was full I took the phone off the charger and attempted to turn the device on. When attempting to turn the device on nothing happened. I reconnected the device to the charger to verify that the battery was fully charged. Once the screen indicated that the battery was fully charged I reattempted to turn the device on again. Still nothing happens. I have tried pressing the volume down and home button simultaneously to get the phone in a safe mode or to reset but yet nothing happens. still. What can I further do to solve this issue?

Hello @ayoincrediblemo,

Having your power button become unresponsive is certainly unexpected. It will be my pleasure to assist you!

Making sure the power button isn’t obstructed or has any dirt or debris in it preventing it from connecting is very important to check.

Removing the battery from the device and re-inserting it after about a minute can help make sure there aren’t any connections malfunctioning to the power button. To do this, you will make sure the phone is powered off and there is a button in the lower left of the phone you can press and pull the bottom of the phone out to reveal the battery.

If the button continues to be unresponsive, you can attempt connecting the device to your computer and using a service such as LG Bridge to back up your information. As a repair or warranty may be needed in order to ensure you have a proper working phone.

I hope you find this information helpful!

At@t Lg 5 no power button

Pull battery out

Plug charger into phone battery

Hold volume down while pushing battery in with battery plugged in

As soon as the screen light up unplug charger from battery continue holding volume down till it vibrates in hand let go of button

My phone works every time like this

Thanks for the fix - it also works just holding the volume down while plugging in the charger from the "off" setting.

Liz - Krautt's post might be for a question 10 months old, but I had the same issue and would not have been able to solve it without finding this thread with his assistance. Some people keep their phones longer than others - some even manage to avoid having problems until after having them for years. I'm pretty glad I can keep using my phone, because I'm not looking to replace it any time soon.
