key board missing on an android phone

I recently tired to update some apps on my android phone and when the updates were finished I could sign into my phone because my sign in screen now shows the google speak with a red mic and the line for password  this will not clear off and I have gone into a local att store and also the clerk was not able to help me we then got on a land line and called att help desk and as the tech was trying to help we were disconnected after serveral minutes of being on hold. My phone continues to get text messages  even without the sims card in it. but I dont get messages on my new phone...

Greetings @aacuribe!

There could be a number of ways to recover your keyboard. Allow us to assist. Try resolving your experience by visiting the Play Store, select the Speech to Text microphone, speak "Keyboard", and the Google keyboard should download onto your device which you can then use after installation.

Also, depending on the make and model of your device use our Device Support tool here to verify whether the software on your device is updated (System > Software Version).

Let us know how this works for you.
