Help! I've tried every APN setting and still no 4g!

11-14-2017

I bought a new 2013 Sony Xperia ZL C6506 online, and got a new SIM from the local AT&T store. The phone has all of the frequencies (bands 1,2,4,5,17) that AT&T uses for broadband data.  I've tried numerous APN settings but the phone only shows the "H" and speed test results are pitiful.   Please help! Thank you!

ATT uses bands 2,4,5,17/12,30.   No band 1.    According to the specs, it does not have 17.

ATT system will likely see any phone not whitelisted for the USA as a 3g phone.

You can pick up a cheap ATT gophone and call Ask for advanced tech support and ask them to use the IMEI as a dummy in the system.

Hi, thank you for replying.  GSM arena is where my info came from about the frequencies.  Is it incorrect?  gsmarena.com/sony_xperia_zl-5203.php

And I got confirmation from willmyphonework before I purchased the phone.  Is it not trustworthy?

Thanks!     🙂

Here are a couple sites I've found helpful. In some of the hidden service menus, you can modify things you really didn't think you could. There's even one which will show you to select from various APN's, none of which You'll find posted on these forums anywhere.

Wow.  All I had to do was call AT&T support (800-331-0500) and Keith answered the phone.  I gave him the IMEI number and he punched it in.  Then he told me to restart the phone.  BOOM!  He then sent me a link where I can enter a new IMEI if I change phones.

Thank you Keith!
