Hello Community,

This feature is not enabled by AT&T by default, so you shouldn't be seeing these. If you are getting them, they may have been activated via the developer version of iOS or Android. These messages can also occur if your device is jailbroken (the OS was altered from it's original intent) or Non-AT&T Branded.

What you can do

  • In some instances, the settings can be turned off in Developer Mode as mentioned in @Pyroteknikid post below.
  • If you have a jailbroken device, a recommendation is to restore the normal OS. Please note: We do not support jailbroken devices and our support would stop here.

Non-Branded Devices

If you have a non-US market device or a device you brought from another carrier (Bring Your Own Device), some do not have the same specifications and may be on by default. Because it is not an AT&T branded device, AT&T does not have the ability to resolve this.

If you don't have a jailbroken device, and are still getting these alerts, please ask a question and we'll look into your specific issue.

Screen shot of the new settings from Developer Options:
I had all of the alerts turned OFF except the one at the bottom for CMAS which apparently is "Commercial Mobile Alert System".

although the frequency of your alerts are odd. You cannot stop them they are required by the fcc and other government agencies. There is no opt out option. Same as the alerts on your tv or radio.

Good Morning @VenkataraoN,

Thanks for your help @Constructive .

You do in fact have the option to opt out of Wireless Emergency Alerts what you cannot opt out of are presidential alerts.  To do this on your device, you would need to check the manufacturers site for how to do that. as you are using a non supported device with AT&T.  I agree the frequency of those messages is odd, you should see an option to turn those notifications off.

Let us know if you need additional assistance.

@ATTHelp Thank you for the response.

I am talking about test alerts, not the real alerts. Why AT&T sending me these test alerts? Customer support did mention that they disabled, but still I am getting..

Its as if AT&T is using my mobile number as Beta or Alpha test number & sending test messages or alerts without my permission..

I don't see an option to disable test alerts on Onepolus2, at the same time given its not supported with AT&T I am ideally not supposed to receive these. Could you please check if something to be disable at AT&T side and accordingly can be fixed?

Hello @VenkataraoN,

The types of alerts you are referring to are not sent by AT&T they are usually sent from a federal, state or other local authority .

Since they are not issued by AT&T, there would not be anything for us to check other than you checking directly with the manufacturer of your device to see what can be done to disable those alerts.

Hi @ATTHelp

Alert popup says its a test one & it came from AT&T. Doesn't it clearly say its coming from AT&T test?

Good Afternoon @VenkataraoN,

You will find on this site:

It states:

  • Participating wireless carriers may offer subscribers with WEA-capable handsets the ability to block alerts involving imminent threats to safety of life and/or AMBER Alerts. Consumers cannot block emergency alerts issued by the President.

If you were using a supported Device, we would be able to further escalate the matter.

@ATTHelp @ATTHelpFeedback

I am afraid my point is getting missed from your side, there are definitely not a presidential alerts or other emergency alerts.

This surely says AT&T test message. Please read through below message to confirm that its not an actual real message from anyone, but a test alert from AT&T. It clearly says TEST of AT&T Wireless Emergency Alerting System, please read through below..

Hello if someone could help me that would be quite beneficial. I am getting pop ups (not messages) on a phone that has not been connected to a wireless provider for calling saying, "Emergency Alert (not available), this is a TEST of AT&T... 0000DB7F-15548E9."

I am having the same issue as Ncatania. The device this is happening on wasn't even an at&t device. Is this a virus?

Same here. I'm not an AT&T customer. It's not an AT&T phone. The phone doesn't even have a SIM card. And I still get multiple tests everyday now. Are they planning for Martial Law or something?

I'm not a AT&T customer directly but rather through Crickett Wireless.  Both my wife and my phones are receiving these pop up test alerts and they are obnoxious.  Random times could be 3am or during the day.

I can help out with your problem.

1. The DND doesn't work for WEA.

2. The issue isn't with AT&T really, it is with your phone.

All phones receive the Test Alerts but they are not supposed to display the Test Alert unless you want them to.

What kind of phone do you receive the Carrier and FEMA Test Alerts on?

Is the phone been jailbroken or has a developer version of the operating system?

Those are the 2 biggest reasons you get the Test Alert.

I am getting the same alerts ... 6 times in the last 5 minutes, got one while writing this message. Now, I watch enough tekkitrealm to know that messages with grammar this bad are probably not real... Especially when they spell AT&T wrong.

This is a TEST of AT&T Wireless Emergency Alerting System. Please ignore this message. We are testing the new WEA 3.0 360 chars this is a TEST. No need to worry. This is a Test This is a test of the ATT Wireless Alerting System, This is only Test This is a Test of the Wireless Emergency Alerting System, This Only a Test No need worry, Test: 0000EC2D-15548E9
