Galaxy S5 Updated to 4.4.4 Issue

I finally had a software update pop-up on my Galaxy S5. I went ahead and did the update and everything seems fine except one little glitch. When i press the bottom left button to show all of my recent apps, the background (which is usually my home screen wallpaper) is now the standard android/galaxy greenish blue color. When i press the back button the exit the screen, before it shows my home screen, you see the wallpaper that should be showing as the recent apps background/wallpaper flash quickly before closing. Does anyone have this issue or noticed it? Is it just my phone? Any way i could fix this? I didn't get any errors while installing the software update so i'm a little confused. I do remember an AT&T software update completely messing up my Note 2 so i had to get a new one. This is a minor issue, but still annoying.

Hi there @lorii_ka

I’d be happy to help with your update issue! It’s possible this is a minor software bug that will likely be cleared up through a factory reset and restore. To do so, first we would back up the device in Samsung Kies 3 after installing the program on your computer. To back up, simply choose the Backup/Restore tab in Kies and check all of the boxes by the content you wish to save, then click Backup.

Once the backup is complete, head to Settings>Backup and Reset on the phone and choose Factory data reset. This will wipe the device, after which you can go through the setup process. Once set up, simply restore your backup to the device by choosing Restore Data in Kies.

I hope this helps!

Why should i have to go through the annoying process of factory resetting my phone to MAYBE fix a bug that you guys didn't catch before releasing the update? I don't really feel like setting up my phone all over again. I guess i'll just have to deal with it until you do something to fix it.

I have the same issue. Also, when I press the home button it always brings Google up like I held it down. I am now constantly getting the check battery cover message too. I wish I had not updated. My phone is slower and constantly lags when typing. Not a good update.

I'm writing you just to let you know I feel your frustration and also am experiencing your pain.  I've gone into RSI (Samsung's Service Center in Plano, TX) when I was on a business trip.  I had their technicians perform a hard wipe of the device, where as they remove everything on the device.  We've pushed the software to 4.4.4 after the reset, and still it did not resolve any issues with the home button.  I then went to the Samsung Experience Store in Best Buy, only to have Samsung tell me the issue is related to Google and Android, not a Samsung issue.  Recently, my text messages take anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes to show they've been sent, and sometimes they work as they are supposed to.  It is quite frustrating.  Today, I was having a conversation with the Vice President of my company via text, and the delay started to occur again.  I called AT&T for some guidance on how to correct the issue.  They informed me from Technical Support to contact Samsung, as they were aware there are issues and they've got a patch to correct the problem.  So of course I called Samsung, and after speaking with their Technical Support, they told me they do not have patches, or developers that overwrite carrier software.  They told me to contact google.  Google had directed me back to AT&T since it is the software released by AT&T, so as you can see, the reset might correct other inadiquecies but it sure won't resolve the issue your experiencing.  Sad to say a multi billion dollar organziation such as AT&T cannot help, nor has the desire to help frustrated customers.
