Galaxy S5 Active Call Forwarding issue "Network or SIM card error"

Just upgraded from the S3 to the S5 Active.  Things seem to work fine, but when I go into the additional call settings (such as call forwarding), it says reading (as my S3 did), but then I get a "Network or SIM card error" and I cannot change any of these settings.  Call forwarding is an essential need I have.

It was doing this on the Android 4.4, and last night I updated to Lollipop to see if that would help, but it did not.

Any ideas?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hey there @AggieJosh2002

I’d be happy to help with this call forwarding issue! This appears to have been an issue with the 4.4.4 software on the S5 Active which should indeed have been corrected with Lollipop. In order to make sure there are no remnants of the old software causing this issue to remain, I would recommend performing a full backup in Kies 3, followed by a factory reset of the device to clear all information, ready for a clean installation of Lollipop.

  • From Settings, choose Backup & Reset
  • Tap Factory Data Reset
  • Tap Reset Device
  • Tap Delete All

Once updated, we can then restore your information back to the device! For a guide on how to backup and restore via Kies, click here.

I hope this helps!

I was having the same issue. I tried a backup and restore. Unfortunately, that process accomplished nothing but wasting my time. Our AT&T rep said he has had several reports of this issue with no successful solution. Is there a fix to this problem yet?

I have a Galaxy S5 (not Active) with the same issue. I just got it last week as a warranty replacement for my malfunctioning S4. AT&T tech support told me it's a known issue with this device in this software version (Android 5.0). My question is, can we genuinely expect a fix, or should I just get a new phone?

I am having the same issue on my G3. I also have a G4 and do not have the issue on that phone. I've also noticed that a much older phone, the Skyrocket, also has the same issue. I just spent probably an hour in a chat with a tech support rep and we could not resolve the issue. I'm going to try a new SIM card. Idk if it will help. The one I have is new.
