galaxy s20+ 5g

phone connects to 5g constantly but we don't have 5g and I loss all my data when it connects. I can't change it in connections because it's not a option

You aren't able to change the network your device connects to. Your device will connect to the most compatible coverage AT&T supports.

 

5G is the most reliable, fast, and secure coverage.

You can actually change it. Go to Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks > Network mode (Sim number or name),  and then make it connect to LTE first not 5G.
