Galaxy G930A S7 double tap problem

I have a Galaxy S7 G930A.

When I make or receive a call, I get a pop up of Double tap to unlock. I double tap and it unlocks for like 2 seconds, and it comes back. The only way for me to have a conversation with anyone is to unlock it, and hit the speaker button quickly, and then I can talk and the other person can hear me. Otherwise without hitting the speaker button, I can't talk to the other person, and they can't hear me as the double tap to unlock just keeps coming up. I have tried a couple of suggestions from other forums, but it has not helped.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Bob

Hello @rwestb,

We're happy to help! Let's check your proximity sensor settings. Please open your Phone app > Menu > Call Settings. Look for Turn Off Screen During Calls; if it is disabled, be sure to enable the setting to avoid the "Double Tap" message.

If this doesn't work, let us know the steps you have already completed.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Hello Bobbie,
I was not able to find this setting on my phone. I went to the local Att store today, and they could not find it either.
Can you suggest something else?
Also in my screen lock settings window, there is no option for using double tap to lock your screen,
I have the Galaxy S7 G930A in case I didn't put it in the post.
Thanks

Hello,

I have a Galaxy S7 SM-G930U and had the same issue. Both during incoming and outgoing phone calls my phone would display a padlock symbol and a message reading "Double tap to unlock." This would overlay the call information screen behind. When the message wass displayed, I was unable to hear a ring or voice on the call. The work around was to quickly double-tap and press speaker to allow the phone call to function. I had recently installed a new head phone jack inside the phone and had also received a software update. Trying new phone apps did not solve the problem, so I suspected it was a hardware issue. I went through all of the steps necessary to remove the back cover, disassemble the phone and removed and reattached the battery connection. I had taken this step to replace the headphone jack. Somehow the battery connection must have been loose because reattaching the battery solved the 'double-tap' issue for me. Disassembling your phone is a process, be careful, or take your phone to a shop to check it.

Thanks,

Chris

Hey simple fix here. This double tap thing started when I replaced my battery. I reopened phone to check battery connection and there was a small connection above where the battery connects I fixed that loose connection as well as checked the battery connection  problem solved!

My husband had the same problem and we tried all the suggested remedies.  Finally he took it to the repair shop where he had taken it to have his battery repaired,  The battery was loose and after they fixed that it worked just as it had before, no double tap needed.
