Galaxy Express 3 SIM change

I recently got a SafeLink phone. While siging up I was told I could go buy an ATT GoPhone, specially this one that the guy showed me, and insert my SafeLink sim into it and use it's service.

However when I put the sim in, it shows up, yet just says stuuf like "unkown sim, no network available, etc" But I get not other errors. Also I cannot recieve any signal, not even 1 bar for a 911 cal while the SIM is in there.

I tried the Safelink SIM in the original phone and it works. My account is there, my minutes, etc. So I kno my service for Safelink is active...

Anyway, I have a feeling I was told a lie and this phone won't accept a SafeLink SIM or something.

Safelink is a part of Tracphone.  The experience I had with a tracphone is that their sims only work with the orig. phone. There may be a problem on their system when it comes to switching out sim cards. or the phone may need unlocking.
