Factory reset issue

I have followed the steps given here along with various other platforms on how it is so done and even tried methods for different Samsung models and it never takes me through to the recovery and factory reset /wipe cache page it always continues on to finish it's normal start up ...the only thing I have gained from holding the volume ⬆️ and side/power button as prompted is it vibrating for a second before it continues to start how it would otherwise ... have you heard from anyone else about this and any suggestions would help ... Thanks

I don't know who told you that was how you factory reset the phone but it's not. That's how you reboot the phone.

If you are trying to erase all data on the phone, you open settings, in the top search bar type  "reset" or "erase".  Scroll through and select "erase all content"

You will be asked to enter some credentials that prove that you have access to the phone as the phones owner and user. Typically this will be your PIN code, and possibly your Google and/or Samsung account information

This will erase all content on the device and return it to factory condition.

If you are trying to bypass factory reset protection, FRP:

Understand the whole point of having this protection is so that only the original user can access the phone and being able to defeat this defeats the entire purpose of there being such a function. If this is your phone, and you have accidentally locked yourself out of it, there are ways through find my phone to gain access through your Google account or Samsung account.

Let's point you in the right direction for your factory reset, @AndrewmfRoss117.

Special thanks to our ACE, @formerlyknownas, for their expertise. Just a few quick questions.

- What is the make and model of your Samsung device?

- What exact troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

- Are you seeing any error messages?

We're asking because we want to provide precise steps for that specific device.

In the meantime, we recommend using our device support to help with a factory reset. 1. If a restart does not resolve your issue, you may need to perform a Factory data reset (Master reset). This will erase all data on your device and restore it to factory settings. To Factory data reset your device, swipe down from the Notification bar then select the  Settings icon > scroll to and select General management > select Reset > Factory data reset.

2. Scroll to and select Reset, then select Delete all to confirm.

We've also included this help page for factory resetting through Samsung.

Please let us know if this helps. Thanks for reaching out to AT&T Community Forums!

Are you sure you powered off the phone first.  Then you press the vol up and unlock/Bixby buttons at the same time until the quick vibration is felt.  This has always brought my Samsung phones to the Android Recovery screen.

This worked on my past S8 and S9 phones.  And I just did it on my S20 FE 5G to make sure it still works... and it did.  I can see the 'wipe data/factory reset" option right there.  (Of course, I didn't press that, but I did hit "wipe cache partition" since it had just updated to the Nov 1 security update yesterday... yeah, now that we are in December.)

Maybe something is wrong with one of the buttons during the simultaneous press that's not picking up both presses.
