Emergency alert (exercise) - AT&T WEA Test

I keep getting these Emergency Alerts popping up on my phone. I have opted out of all emergency alerts on my phone (unfortunately I can't shut off presidential alerts). I have contacted AT&T several times about this and they assure me that all Emergency Alerts have been blocked on their end. But they keep coming through. Here's what it says. Love the grammar! Somebody working at AT&T should have finished their GED.

Emergency alert (exercise)

Oct 21, 19:13 PM

This is a TEST of AT&T Wireless Emergency Alerting System. Please ignore the message. We are testing the new WEA 3.0 360 chars this is a TEST. No need to worry. This is a Test This is a test of the ATT Wireless Alerting System. This is only Test. This is a test of the Wireless Emergency Alerting System. This Only a Test No need worry, Test: 0000F5CA-15548E9

This does not come as a text message.

This pops up on my screen and is accompanied by a screeching sound.

I have already opted out of all Wireless Emergency Alerts.

AT&T has already blocked all WEA tests from my account.

And yet these tests keep happening.

Hello Community,

This feature is not enabled by AT&T by default, so you shouldn't be seeing these. If you are getting them, they may have been activated via the developer version of iOS or Android. These messages can also occur if your device is jailbroken (the OS was altered from it's original intent) or Non-AT&T Branded.

What you can do

  • In some instances, the settings can be turned off in Developer Mode as mentioned in @Pyroteknikid post below.
  • If you have a jailbroken device, a recommendation is to restore the normal OS. Please note: We do not support jailbroken devices and our support would stop here.

Non-Branded Devices

If you have a non-US market device or a device you brought from another carrier (Bring Your Own Device), some do not have the same specifications and may be on by default. Because it is not an AT&T branded device, AT&T does not have the ability to resolve this.

If you don't have a jailbroken device, and are still getting these alerts, please ask a question and we'll look into your specific issue.

Thanks,

The AT&T Community Team
