Does Visual Voicemail transcription work on any AT&T androids now?

I had a Pixl3 and transcription worked. I "upgraded" (not really) to a Samsung S20 FE 5G, and the visual voicemail service took a giant step backwards to 2010, when the only thing visual voicemail gave you was a list of voicemails. I don't need to know when someone has left me a vm. I need to be able to read the contents of the vm. I can't get anyone at AT&T to listen to what I'm saying - they just keep sending me the same instructions for visual voicemail, when it WILL NOT WORK ON MY CURRENT PHONE MODEL.

I want to buy a new phone that will give me what I need. i do not want Apple. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Unfortunately, it's highly doubtful that AT&T will change anything.  It doesn't make much sense to pay a fortune for a smartphone only to have it dumbed down by a carrier.

Easily resolved....

I like the transcription feature but neither Verizon or AT&T transcription was any good . Even iPhone transcription is extremely poor.   Some of the transcription I received was flat-out obscene because of poor voice recognition. 😲.

I was also very unhappy with the quality of my voicemail greeting. I felt it was muffled and hard to understand. I got a lot of messages left for a completely different person because the outgoing greeting was so poor quality.

I downloaded 'You Mail' , free version.

It's actually a really great application, it includes a Spam blocker.  The voice recording is very high-quality, much better than the carrier outgoing message, or even my custom recorded message. The transcription is nearly flawless. It also gives you an extended time to get to your phone, you have about 10 Rings instead of 6.   You can set up custom greetings and switch between the custom greetings without having your previous greeting erased.  Which is extremely handy if you're using a phone for business as well as personal purposes, or if you're going to be traveling outside of a coverage area and don't wish to receive any phone calls , you just create a vacation notice.

I'm always a little tempted to pay for the premium version, but I don't see the purpose of paying for something that works quite well for free.

If it's some point I was required to pay to continue to use the application I probably would do so.

If you do decide to use this application you have to redo the call forwarding if you change your cell phone provider.   Not a big deal it's something you have to do when you set up your voice mail with a new cellular provider anyway.

I forgot to mention the paid version does allow you to connect a separate phone number to one voice mailbox. If you are using two separate phones one for business one for personal and are willing to pay the extra fee, it might be worth it

As you can see in the above thread I had switched to YouMail. It worked quite well but I have since switched to using Google Voice and forwarding my unanswered calls to Google Voice I get an excellent transcription.

AT&T's transcription never worked well.

@josephdungnguyen

It doesn't matter if it's carrier branded.

Iphone and pixel have VVM and transcription built in.  Samsung does not, and AT&T does not offer transcription.

I forward to Google Voice, and it's beautiful quality.  In fact I forward 2 different phones to my GV number.

He didn't...

If you read his post it was a request:

"make it work on my fold 4"

Unlike apple and google, transcription is not built into Samsung phones. And since AT&T does not offer transcription I have offered two workarounds in my posts. Forwarding to a free Google Voice number works the best.
