charging port issues

i have had my Galaxy s8 for less than a year and when i plug a charger into it the charger wiggles and will only charge in a certian position. I cleaned the lint out with a toothpick. I just went to my local AT&T store and the associate suggested making an insurance claim. i do have a crack in the screen but i was wondering if that would effect my eligibility for insurance coverage on the charging port

Hello jwbowden,

We're sorry to hear you've experienced charging trouble so soon after purchasing your device.

When filing an insurance claim, the insurance provider will ask for a description of what happened. If you believe the cracked screen led to the malfunction, be sure to include that in the description. Otherwise, make the charging port the focus of your claim.

After the claim has been filed, a replacement device will be shipped the next day.

You may also want to check if your device is still under warranty. Our manufacturers typically keep a 1-year replacement warranty on their devices.

Best regards,

I have an S8 that I got back on August 17,2017. I just started having problems with it charging.  I've tried changing the cord,  buying new cords and even a wireless charger.  I don't know what else to do.  I can't upgrade until 80% paid off.  But I don't have the $199.99 it calls for to upgrade.  I went yesterday with no phone.  It wouldn't charge past 40%.  Then it would get hot and stop charging. What can I do?

Sounds like the battery is waiting for replacement, especially if the phone can run with the charging cord attached. You economical solutions are:

1) DIY battery replacement, there are good youtube tutorial

2) Use an external battery

3) Carry a cord with you
