Can't update Android from 8.1 on Samsung Galaxy View 2

Help!

I have a Samsung Galaxy View 2 tablet Model T-927A.  It has a 17 inch screen which I love.  I can no longer upgrade Android from version 8.1.  I'm now having trouble getting full functional access on more and more websites.

I've looked on the Samsung website and the largest screen available is on the S9+ and it's just barely 13 inches.  I found a reference to a Samsung View 2 with a 17 inch screen and a Samsung View 3 with an 18 inch screen but no information about availability.  Neither of these tablets are versions of Galaxy View.

What I would like is detailed instructions how to upgrade Android on this tablet, or, where I can buy a Samsung View 2 or a Samsung View 3.

Thanks

Hello @Oregonbeachbum

We hear you, let's shed some light on this.

The Android OS is owned by Google, and they send updates over to various devices running Android. AT&T notifies customers about the update once Samsung makes it available to the public. We understand that you would like to update your device to the current version, however, we are afraid to inform you that the latest version for the device would be 8.1.

Also, currently Samsung has not announced when the Galaxy view 3 will be launched, in this case we recommend subscribing stock alerts from Samsung

Hope this helps! Feel free to reply for further assistance.

Lol.  I had to check the date on this because I was convinced it could not be from 2023.

I owned the original view.

I own the view 2.  Much better design by the way.  But it hasn't been sold in years and the software updates stopped.  I'll have to check and see which one mine is running...

I'll get back to you in a few hours when I have access to it

Thank you, everyone, for the information.  I'm going to reach out to Samsung to see if they have an update as to the availability of the Samsung View 2 with a 17 inch screen and the Samsung View with an 18 inch screen.  I'll post a response once I receive one.

The view two is not sold by Samsung. The only place you're going to find one is a second hand like from someone like me who doesn't use theirs very often.

I switched to Verizon, so I can't use it except on Wi-Fi 😕

I called Samsung today to get the status of the Samsung View 2 and Samsung View 3.  The agent searched and came back on the line about 10 minutes later.  He said there wasn't much information about either of those so he tried to sell me a Samsung Pro 9+.  I told him what I'm looking for is a larger screen since the 9+ screen is barely 14 inches.

I looked at one of those at an AT&T store.  The screen on that one is about half the size of my Galaxy View 2 and the print is so small I couldn't read the screen.  I told him that I needed a larger screen.

He went off line again and came back with a report that there's a new tablet coming out in the next few weeks but he didn't have the specs.  He took my information and referred it to developers.  He said I should hear something within the next few days.

Lol.

Samsung made the view for streaming TV service through cell providers, which died when they couldn't zero rate the data.

There will be no view three. If they were ever going to make one it would have been two years after the view 2.  Even when they did sell them they did not sell well.

I checked mine and it looks like mine was never updated past 8.1.0. probably because I discontinued service with AT&T before the next software update. Since AT&T Androids don't update unless they're connected to the AT&T network, I would have to start service again and hope that it's not been so long that it could get an update.

If I were handy I might be able to flash a newer update but I don't mess with that kind of stuff

From what I could find, that device launched with 8.1, but has also stayed on 8.1. Samsung never updated that device.

I assume it didn't do well, so all it may have gotten were the security updates during the one year warranty period.

@Oregonbeachbum

LG make a $1000 27 inch tablet TV.  With a stand.  Wi-Fi only.  3 hour battery.

CozyLA makes a 32 inch $1000 tablet TV, Wi-Fi only.  6 hour battery.

Unfortunately, if your goal was a large cellular TV, the view 2 is the largest.

I used mine this weekend.  I'm guessing it will eventually not function as it's updates are so far behind.
