AT&T won't sell me a Prepaid Plan Without the Internet

Hi, I have an Android phone with my Prepaid AT&T plan. For personal reasons, I don't want internet access at all. I spoke to a AT&T representative who assured me I could purchase that plan online, but after fighting to get into my prepaid online account (never an easy task with AT&T), discovered that choosing the cheapest plan ($30) does Not allow me to choose a plan without the internet. One is included, no matter what.

Why doesn't AT&T allow the user to choose a prepaid phone plan without internet access?

Thanks for any input you might have.

In order to activate a smartphone you have to choose a plan with mobile data.
Don't worry about it, just follow directions.

Thank you, I did not know that. For my second month, I plan on switching to the annual plan of $300 plus taxes for 8gb/mo. One rep said it was for new subscribers only, but second rep today told me they would allow me to switch and she noted it on my account. Hope they honor it or I will sadly go back to Verizon. I would prefer staying with ATT as where I live service is more reliable.

this ⤴️

The only way to purchase the plan is online, as a new customer. You’ll have to port out, then back in.

When a company employee puts you on hold to research the answer for 15+ minutes and comes back and say YES they will allow you to switch and has put the necessary note in your file, they should honor it.
