AT&T Messages for Tablet

I cannot get the at&t messages for tablet app to work. When I log in it says no messages. The app worked last week but is now not working. Any ideas how to fix this?

Hi smchughs, we want to help you use AT&T Messaging on your tablet!

AT&T Messages app is no longer available on select devices

You can keep sending and receiving text and picture messages from your Android tablet with the AT&T Messages for Tablet app. And you can still access older AT&T messages in the tablet app. We’ll also back up your messages in the cloud for up to 90 days.

First, ensure that you:

  • Activate your messaging service on a supported smartphone.
  • Opt in to use AT&T Messages Backup & Sync when you first open the messaging app. (You can also opt in at any time from the messaging app by selecting Settings and then AT&T Messages Backup & Sync.)
  • Have a wireless account with text messaging enabled.

Once you have messages on your smartphone, you can use your tablet app to send and receive messages.

  • Make sure your tablet has Android OS version 4.4 or higher installed.
  • Download and install the AT&T Messages for Tablet app from Google Play on your tablet.
  • Sign in with your user ID.

Let us know how these steps worked out for you! Thank you for posting on the AT&T Community Forums!

I have a Note 20 and have always been able to access the app on this device to see backed up/deleted messages but still am not able to. It worked last week but now does not.

  1. I am getting an error that says "an unexpected error has occurred preventing your messages to sync. Would you like to retry?" When I click retry, the same message appears

Hello smchughs, we're here to help with AT&T Message app.

We understand the impact of not receiving SMS messages. Let's meet in a Direct Message, so that we can review your account. Please check your Direct Message inbox (it's the chat icon next to the bell icon in the upper right corner of the Forums).

Looking forward to speaking with you.

Let's look into your AT&T Messages app experience, @scottpar28!

In order to provide adequate support we need to know more about your experience. Please verify that you've completed the following steps:

  • Log in using your AT&T User ID and password to view, send, and receive all of your messages from the tablet the same as on your phone.
  • If you do not have an AT&T User ID, you can register online at AT&T User ID eSupport.
  • If you are logging into the tablet app for the first time, or after clearing cookies from the browser, you will be required to complete a one-time PIN validation step in order to log in. You must have access to your device in order to receive the PIN.

Let us know how this worked for you.
