ATT does not recognize my Le Eco Le x250 IMEI even though last used with ATT (initially purchased new from AMAZON)

I have an Leeco LE x520.  I purchased phone from AMAZON then used it for several months with StraightTalk on contract plan.  Switched phones and continued with Straighttalk for years. Last year, I needed International Plan, so went to ATT for a contact. Store set up this Leeco phone and it worked great.  I want to set this phone up with contract phone carrier but NO WHERE I look recognizes either of the IMEI.

Basic facts:  Last used on ATT.  No outstanding bill or contract. Personally bought phone new from dealer.

Can anyone help?

Hello @DanoDaBeaver, we understand the importance of activating your Leeco LE device. We're happy to provide information to help resolve your concerns.

It’s important to check the device model number to make sure it’s still supported after the 3G network shutdown. We need your new device’s IMEI and EID numbers. They will help us determine the best way to activate your device on the AT&T network.

  • Visit our "Let's identify your device" and enter your device information. After entering your device information, it will determine if you are able to activate and use your phone on the AT&T Network.

If your IMEI is recognized, your phone will work if the HD Voice feature is turned on. If you can’t make or receive calls, or you’re having trouble accessing data, check the VoLTE or LTE status of your phone.Once you know your device still works, you may need to restart your device or check the VoLTE or LTE status.

  • Go to Settings, then Connection. Choose Mobile networks, then Enhanced LTE services, and select On.

If your IMEI is not recognized on the AT&T Network, that means it may not work anymore. You may need to swap or upgrade to a new one. Meet us back here if you have any questions. Thank you for contacting AT&T Community Forums.

I tried going to "identify your device" and it does not accept the IMEI for the phone.  This phone has LTE (including LTE-FDD: 800, 850, 900, 1700/2100, 1800 and also LTE-TDD: 2300, 2500, 2600.)  I don't understand I guess.

I just used this phone 5 months ago with ATT Sim... now nothing even recognized it seems.

Anything else I can try?  Thanks Alasani!

Dan

** BTW -- this phone is an Leeco le x520 (not x250) My bad!

@DanoDaBeaver

AT&T began the process of shutting down its 3G network in February of 2022 and it was completed sometime in August. Your phone is not capable of voice calls over LTE on the AT&T network and therefore can no longer be accepted on the network at all.

AT&T's IMEI check has rejected your phone. T-Mobile and Verizon also shut off 3g.  Both have an IMEI check online.  I suspect Verizon will also refuse the phone, so you should try T-Mobile's IMEI check

https://www.t-mobile.com/resources/bring-your-own-phone

If T-Mobile refuses the phone you will need to replace it. And you won't find anything from that manufacturer accepted in the USA

By the way, No service provider in the USA has contracts anymore. There is postpaid and prepaid - neither has service contracts. Straight Talk is a prepaid carrier, there is no such thing as contract or postpaid Service from straight talk.  And there is no contract or financial obligation when you bring your own phone other than the current month's service.

Thank you -- great information.

Spurns one last question before I give up:  The LeEco x520 phone has LTE (as listed above) -- does that make no difference as I thought it followed 3G and would allow it to function?

Thanks again.

No.  The FCC requires that your phone be able to make 911 phone calls, which requires access over the cellular Voice network.

Your phone has always dropped to 3G for voice calls on at&t, and may do so on other networks as well.

Since this is an FCC requirement that your phone be able to make standard voice calls, it can no longer be included on any network if voice over LTE is not capable, and AT&T must exclude the phone once it identifies it as a non-voice over LTE device.

Some people have mentioned that their phone has worked for a period of time including for voice calls. There are still 3G networks and T-Mobile still has a 2G network. AT&T still has roaming agreements with T-Mobile that may allow your phone to drop back to T-Mobile's 2G network for voice calls. But eventually AT&T will pick up the IMEI as a non-compatible voice phone and kick it off the network.

Okay thanks!   Sad as it was a really good budget phone that took great pictures, had good antenna, and features.

Thanks again all who gave input/answers
