Unlock AT&T U102AA (Tinno) Flip phone
Customer service has been unable to assist in unlocking this AT&T flip phone. They want me to call the manufacturer in China for assistance. The phone was bought through AT&T and therefore they should carry this responsibility. Can anyone help?

AT&T phones have to meet minimum eligibility requirements and be registered on the network and used for a minimum amount of time in order to be eligible for unlocking. That particular phone is sold at a discount, subsidized, off AT&T's prepaid page. If you did not purchase it with the intention of using it on AT&T for the minimum of 6 months that is required, AT&T has no intention of unlocking it, and doesn't have to
If you have purchased it and used it on AT&T for the required 6 months you should unlock it (before you quit AT&T) as an existing customer.
AT&T knows this phone as
AT&T Cingular Flip IV
And expects you to unlock using the computerized portal here

Thank you. the account and phone have been used since 2014. In 2022 it was switched to a pre-paid plan ($25/month)When filling out the information on the link, which has done earlier, the system comes back and says the "account name unknown". Manufacturer Tinno USA replied and said they could not help and to contact AT&T "
Thank you for reaching out to us! Unfortunately, We the Manufacturer, do not have the system to unlock the network of any device. We strongly recommend you to reach out to your service provider to further assist you."
So, now back at square one. Just because of this, will I end up having to get my wife a new phone? I have been an AT&T customer for more than 30 years and I believe should be treated fair.

Hello hfeilitzen! We understand the importance of wanting your device unlocked as quickly as possible.
Thank you to the ACE for their helpful information.
Once you submit the request online, you also have to be sure you meet all the device unlock eligibility requirements. Usually you get a response in a few minutes, but may take up to 48 hours to receive a response.
We hope this information helps, and please let us know if you have any additional questions.
Thank you for reaching out to the AT&T Community Forums!

The Phone is eligible to be unlocked per AT&T Customer service. We have already been over that. The unlock device link gets rejected since name and phone number for some reason does not match in your system. So no further progress. Can somebody walk us through process?
