Trouble with Activation
I went through the steps for activating my prepaid SIM card. I was led to sign in to an online account, but I never created an online account so they said they would email and text me a temporary password. I never received either email or text. The SIM card is in my phone but my phone is unable to call out. It does not appear to be working at all.

If you are porting a phone number from a different service provider call PAC (Port Activation Center) at 888.898.7685. From another phone.

I checked the status of transferring my number and it says it was approved, and then it says that because I have a prepaid account I don't need to activate the phone. But it leads me to sign in to an account, which I never created. And texts and calls still not coming through.

Hello @lecg, let's get you the information needed to activate your prepaid SIM card with AT&T.
Thank you @formerlyknownas, for providing the port activation number.
Your SIM/ICCID number is a unique serial number that is specific to your SIM card. It has 20 digits and begins with 89. You can find an example of where to look for the SIM/ICCID number and activate your prepaid device here.
As for having an MyAtt account we recommend you create one to manage your AT&T Prepaid account. You can learn how to manage your AT&T account online 24/7, when you create an MyAtt app account.
We would like to ask what type of device you are trying to activate on the AT&T network?
Let's make sure your device is compatible to the AT&T network here.
Please remember to check your spam/junk folder when setting up your new MyATT app.
We hope this information is helpful for setting up your AT&T account and Sim card.

Thank you. The issue is that when I try to create an account, it asks me for either my ATT phone number or account number. When I enter my phone number it says: "That account is suspended or inactive. Call us at 800.288.2020 for help."
I do not have an account number yet because I can't get to the next step.
When I call the number provided to port out my number from the other service provider, I get a run around saying they can't locate my phone number and the automated message hangs up on me. When I finally found a number where I could speak to a real person, they told me to call my old service provider to release the phone number. My old service provider says that they approved the request to transfer the number and they are waiting for AT&T to finish the process. I am still waiting, too. I do not know what the issue is.

Hello, @lecg! We want to point you in the right direction!
We understand you said your old service provider is saying they are waiting for AT&T to finish the porting process. Please contact the Port Activation Center (PAC) at 1-888-898-7685 to assist in the porting process.
Once you have spoken to the PAC, you should be able to go back in and create the MyATT account.
Also, be sure you have a device compatible with the AT&T network.
Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
Thank you for reaching out to AT&T Community Forums!

when I call the PAC, I do not speak with an actual person. The automated system tells me they can’t find my number and I am hung up on

I'm currently having the same issue, did you ever find a resolution? Website support is useless.

I'm having the same issue. This is making me really regret moving to AT&T from T-Mobile... or, at least, trying to. At this point, I have no phone. Thanks AT&T!
It's particularly funny that AT&T's response to "you shipped me a useless SIM that makes my phone not work and you also canceled my service with my previous provider" is, "call us at this number that you totally can't call with a useless phone."
What a trash company.
