Talk not working. Calls end immediately.

Hi,

I am not receiving any calls and when I try to call, the call ends immediately.

2 other phones, exact same model and same ATT prepaid plan have no issues.

Tried resetting network, etc.

TCL20SE (T6710)

54407 is Zip code

Not an outage. Been going on the last week and still isn't functional. We have 3 of the exact same phone, all in same house and on AT&T prepaid. The other 2 have no issues.

Hello DrManolo8, let's get your phone back to functioning properly.

Your device may require a software update to continue working on our network. Here's how:

  • Visit our Device Support tool.
  • Select or change the selected device brand and model.
  • Scroll to More Device Help.
  • Select Software updates if you see it. It only displays if there’s an available update for your device.
  • Repeat the steps to check for software updates for a different device.

Another thing to keep in mind, is that your service won't work unless LTE services are enabled.

For Android: Go to SettingsCellularCellular Data Options>Enhanced LTE services> select ON.

Try these troubleshooting tips  if the issue persists.

  • Turn your phone off and back on.
  • Make sure you have service in your area. Check out the AT&T PREPAID Coverage Map.
  • Activate your AT&T PREPAID account, refill your minutes, or renew expired AT&T PREPAID plans at the AT&T PREPAID Support Center.
  • Be sure that you and your callers use 10- or 11-digit dialing when placing calls.
  • Learn how to call or message internationally if you’re traveling outside the U.S.
  • Check out Device Support tutorials and videos that'll teach you how to:
    • Turn off Airplane Mode. Most phones display an airplane icon when Airplane Mode is on.
    • Turn off Do Not Disturb or Quiet Hours. Some phones have this setting to keep you from getting calls during certain times or while the setting is turned on.
    • Turn off Call Forwarding. Press #21# on your phone and then the CallSendTalk, or Receiver key. If your calls continue to forward to another number, learn how to  turn call forwarding on and off.
    • Check the Blocked Calls or Reject List. On some phones, you can block calls from certain numbers or create a reject list to avoid calls you don’t want to get.
    • Insert SIM card. Steps on how to remove and reinsert the SIM card if your phone displays Insert SIM or Emergency Calls Only.

Let us know if this helps, and thank you for reaching out to the AT&T Community Forums.

Thanks for the update, @DrManolo8

Based on the information provided, we'd like to carry this over in a DM. Please check your Direct Message inbox (it's the chat icon next to the bell icon in the upper right corner of the Forums).

In the meantime, we ask that you check the data settings on your device to make sure they're programmed correctly. Here's how:

  • Tap your Settings menu.
  • Choose either Wireless & Networks, More Networks, or Connections.
  • Tap Mobile Networks, then Access Point Names.
  • Find and select the option to add a new APN. You may find a plus (+) symbol on the screen, or tap the menu button.
  • Program each field using the settings found in the table.
  • Save your changes to return to the APN's menu and choose the new APN.

We'll chat soon!

Is it only calls?  Do text and data work?

If you still have text and data service and it's only phone calls that are affected it is probably a problem with your phone or your sim card. AT&T Has been in the  process of shutting down its 3-g Network since February. If your phone or your sim card is not able to receive phone calls over the LTE network, voice service will not work. You either need to replace your sim card, or replace your phone.

Please list the phone make, with its full model number which can be found in settings, about phone.

Or check the lists.

Supported sim cards

Devices that will work on AT&T now that 3-g is gone

Non-carriee/factory unlocked phones that will work on AT&T now that 3-g gone

Switching back and forth the radio media type changes what will work.
*#*#4636#*#* lets me select radio.
GSM/WCDMA lets me make calls but no text
Picking one with LTE lets me text but not make calls

Google Pixel 4 - Android 12 - The link you gave above says "1
Indicates devices that require a software update to enable HD Voice, Wi-Fi Calling, Video Call, Advanced Messaging or 5G."

The sim card shows "27" in 9th and 10th digits of the ICCMI (or whatever its called)

@jackregion5

You did not provide the model number of your device. Your model number is in your phone's settings, about phone.

The only pixel 4 series that work:

Pixel 4a (1) (G025J)
• Pixel 4 (1) (G020I, G020M, G020N)
• Pixel 4XL (1) (G020Q, G020P, G020J)

(1) indicates required software updates

Can't say I like the Android 12 on the pixel 4XL, but updating the software over Wi-Fi didn't take any time at all.
