Question about purchasing sim card kit question (returning US citizen trapped in India)

Hi,

I'm currently in India under lock down (I've been in india since September). April 20th I return and will go to Maryland. I have an unlocked iPhone Xr. I want to buy a prepaid sim card kit now because shipping may stop due to coronavirus. This means it will sit in my friends house for 14-18 days before I arrive and can activiate it.

Questions:

1) Will this be a problem?

2) Is there a way to talk to an AT&T rep about this? I can't create an account yet and it seems this is required.

Thanks

Ari

AT&T does not ship outside of the United States. It's not a bad idea to order a Sim kit now, however have your friend do it and shipped to his address because he is inside the United States. You will have to wait until you arrive to activate the SIM card in your phone.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, my plan is to ship to him. He is in Maryland. Now my flight was cancelled and the next flight I found isn't until May 2nd.

1) Is there any problem with my buying a prepaid sim card kit, him holding it for 4 weeks, and then I activate it when I arrive? Will it still work at that time?

2) When does my billing period start? Is it from the date I activate or the date of deliver?

1. Sim card is jyst a bit of cardboard and Metal until you activate and pay for service. It will keep for years.

2. Prepaid service Begins the day you activate the SIM card and pay for service. Terms are 30 days each

ok

Re: activation. I didn't know if AT&T has an activation window such that once a sim card is sent out, if its not activated by a certain time then the sim card is cancelled.

No, it's just cardboard and Metal. A number is assigned randomly when you pay and activate
