New sim card is already activated but I can't finish creating an account

I recently got a new phone locked to AT&T and got my number ported over from T-Mobile. I checked the port status and it said T-Mobile approved it and it will complete when I finish my activation. I put the new sim card in and use the activation link in the text I was sent. It says my sim card is already active and shows my old T-Mobile number that was ported, but when I hit continue to make a password it takes me to a page with the number and password filled out already and it says the information is invalid.

We'd highly advise for you to reach and call our Port Activation team at 888-898-7685. They'll be able to assist further with getting your port successfully processed so that you're able to use your new device.

Why can't reps from these companies actually answer a question when somebody asks so that other people who have the same issue can potentially resolve the problem rather than spending countless hours on hold while being shuffled from one department to another. Otherwise, there is absolutely no point in having "support" on community forums. They serve NO purpose.
