New $300 annul plan

I am currently with Mint Mobile and I am going to transfer to the new AT&T PREPAID 16GB 12-month plan.    I have heard a lot of negative experiences to port in numbers to AT&T prepaid.

Is there anybody who can share your latest experience in porting in to AT&T prepaid?   How difficult is the process?

Hi there @pubdown, We are here to shine some light on the prepaid porting process for AT&T.

We'll like to have you apart of our AT&T family. Allow us to guide you in the right direction.

  • Don't cancel your current service! We'll take care of that when you activate your new AT&T PREPAIDSM phone.
  • Contact your service provider so you know what charges may apply. You'll need to pay any outstanding balances. You may also have to pay an early termination fee.
  • You can transfer a number for free within 30 days of activation. After 30 days, there’ll be a $36 transfer fee charge.

You can check the number to make sure you are able to port it to the Prepaid AT&T network first. Here is how you check to see if the number is Eligible to Transfer.

When transferring your number from another wireless carrier or AT&T wireless:

  • If you start your number transfer in an AT&T store, your number will transfer to us within one to three business hours.
  • If you order your new phone or SIM card online or over the phone, your number transfer may take up to three to five business days to complete. Your old phone will still work until you activate your new AT&T PREPAID phone or SIM card.
  • If you're transferring a non-wireless number, it'll take a minimum of five to seven business days to complete.

Thank you for visiting the AT&T Community.

Hi @pubdown, we can get you pointed in the right direction.

Just to be on the safe side we recommend giving your provider a call to be sure you dont have an outstanding balance and are clear of any termination fees. Once you have spoken with them please feel free to follow the steps given to you above.

Sometimes we run into issues transferring a number from another carrier. If your transfer is taking longer than expected, call 888.898.7685 for assistance.

I ported from Red Pocket.  Had to call RP to release, but otherwise it was simple.  They have increased the monthly data from 8GB to 16GB on this $300/year plan since I got it.

Thank you!

I do have the account # and Pin# from Mint Mobile already, do I still need to call Mint Mobile to release?

Once you put in your order online with att, you will find out for sure.  From how I understand it, sometimes it goes through with np and other times you have to call to release.
