Monthly prepaid plan "service will auto-renew", but I didn't choose AutoPay...??
I am ready to purchase a monthly prepaid plan and DID NOT choose the AutoPay option. Yet when I read the notice next to the check box for "I have read and agree to the AT&T Consumer Service Agreement", it says "service will auto-renew monthly until canceled". Why? I thought prepaid meant that I make a one-time payment and then renew manually each month.
TIA

It’s just poor wording on their part. Auto renew is not the same as autopay. What auto renew means is that the plan will automatically renew if the account balance is sufficient to pay for it. If you don’t refill your account, service will not renew.

Thanks very much. I'm reassured. But I'll take this opportunity to say that it's not "just" poor wording. Having that specific wording at a crucial point in the checkout process next to a check box that we're told elsewhere is contractually binding if we check it is likely to make people change their minds about going ahead. It sure did me. (Just my $0.02 worth.)
Thanks for your help. But you should be getting something from AT&T, you're better than their legal department ;-)
