Is anyone getting "CODE37369" in thier text log ont thier cell phnoe account but not on their phone?

My mother has a prepay plan and she keeps getting texts from "CODE37369" and it's causing her text rate to get popped up to 15 times in a matter seconds for.20 cents each time. It shows up when she logs into her account online but does not appear on her phone in hertext messages. Has anyone had this happen? If not, can AT&T look into this. It'definitely some kind of hacking or spam and possible fraud. Anything would be helpful short of a total solution.

We understand you have concerns regarding the code you're seeing on your mother's text log, @rlo1210. We're here to help shed some light on things for you.

What you found while looking through your mother's phone log is called a short code. Short Codes allow customers to send text and multimedia messages from their wireless phones using shortened phone numbers. You are able to send text messages to short codes to access a wide variety of content from AT&T and other third party services. You can learn more about short codes and what the number represents.

If your mother is on a Pay-per-minute plan, responding to these short codes messages will cause her to incur a charge. Also, something to take note of is that the Pay-per-minute plans have increased to $0.35 per minute effective 10/13/2022.

Thanks for visiting our AT&T Community! Let us know if you have any further questions.

She does not use text EVER. These are codes that are incoming, not outgoing. She is being charged for these short codes but she is not sending texts. The link you gave for short codes does not exist anymore. They are appearing when she goes into her account online and she looks at her call/text log but it does not show up on her phone anywhere. Something is wrong or there is fraudulent activity coming from somewhere. It needs to be investigated by AT&T.

Yes, we are aware of the increase. That is not the issue.

Could you or someone from AT&T provide contact info to a department that can assist.

Thank you

Thanks for clarifying, @rlo1210

We want to take a closer look at your mother's text log and the charges on her account. Let's meet in a Direct Message on this. Please check your Direct Message inbox (it's the chat icon next to the bell icon in the upper right corner of the Forums).

In the meantime, review our Terms of Service to learn more about the charges applicable to wireless service.

  • Pay per use rates are $0.20 per incoming and outgoing message text/instant message (SMS).

We'll continue this interaction in private!
