Hey there @she0930she!
We can help you with your SIM card activation question. It is advised that upon acquiring your new AT&T SIM card that you activate it within 30 days of purchase since activating the SIM card generates a wireless number which requires adding money to keep the number/account active.

How long do we have to activate a sim card? Not what you recommend, no links, just a 2-3 word answer, please. Exactly, how long do we have to activate a sim card/prepaid plan until its invalid or expired?

The poster from 2 years ago mentioned an expiration date on the card. Do it before then.
Otherwise, my answer would be "it depends".
In some cases, if a new phone is sent out with a SIM card, it will be automatically activated within a short period. If it is a replacement for a phone (such as a free replacement for a 3G phone), your existing SIM is likely to be terminated.
