How do you transfer a bill credit to the payer of the multi-line discount account holder?

Hi, I signed up (July 4) and received the $25 credit for signing up and I can see it in my alerts and in my "Balance & Details" link from my home page.  Thank you AT&T for the quick action.

The first question I have is that now that I'm part of the multi-line discount how do I transfer this $25 credit to the payer of the multi-line main payee?

The second question (I haven't been able to find this) how long does this credit last before it expires?

Thanks,

Hello @iamcanadian,

We can definitely answer these questions for you. If a member of an AT&T PREPAID Multi-Line account has an account balance, the balance does not automatically move to the account owner when the member joins a Multi-Line account. The balance remains on the member's account until used by the member. Any member balance transfers can only be completed upon acceptance of the invitation to join. Transfers are authorized during enrollment only. Once the Multi-line account is established, transfers are not authorized. Also, balance amounts of $10-$24.99 will expire after 30 days, and balance amounts of $25-$99.99 will expire after 90 days. Please let us know if you have any further questions or concerns.

What a scam! The credit doesn't show up until well after the multi-line account is established, and then you say it's too late to transfer the credit. My husband and I share an account. The payment is attached to his phone. I bought a new iphone 6 which came with a $45. credit. It is sitting on our account under my phone number, and since the payment for our plan is paid under my husbands phone number, the $45. credit is useless, because it can't be transferred to his line and credited to our account. Shame on At&T for misleading people. I would not have bought the phone without the $45 credit that was promised. At&T used a loop hole to get out of giving the actual credit.

@dkessel So have the multiline account owner return your line back to an individual line so you can use the credit. You can rejoin the multiline next month.

Will doing that cause us to lose our multi line discount?

Yes but better to lose that for a month than to lose the $45 credit.

My challenge is that I joined when they offered the 8+8GB data, so if I cancelled for a month and join back, I'll lose the +8GB on the 2nd line 😞

That is certainly a possibility but it wouldn’t be for leaving the multiline plan. The requirement to keep the bonus data is to stay on autopay. If you could leave the multiline account at the right time and remain on autopay, you “should” retain the bonus data. Not sure if it’s worth the risk to try, though.

Exactly, is it worth the risk?   Since this is all pre-paid accounts, I heard it is difficult to get anything done via their customer service if something goes wrong.

However, thank you for pointing that out that the bonus is due to the auto-pay.  I might have to try to reach the prepaid customer service folks to confirm, anyone recall that phone number?
