Can't call or receive calls

I used my phone note 9 in canada with at&t sim prepaid no problem

But yesterday I crossed into usa from Michigan and I couldn't call or receive calls..

Tried few things like turning off and on..removing sim and putting it back..reseting network settings

No luck..

Tomorrow will call or chat support since I cant call lol

I was having the same issue. Try to update your phone. Mine said it was completely up to date when it wasn't. I ended up having to put my friends Sim card into my phone and forcing a bunch of updates.

We are here to help get your device to make/receive calls again MIRAGEX!

Thank you for letting us know what troubleshooting steps you've already attempted. Please confirm that your unlocked device or AT&T branded device is compatible on our network after the 3G shutdown. We phased from the 3G network to make room for an even better network.

Here are also some helpful troubleshooting steps to help fix your call service concern if your device is compatible on our network:

  1. Check for any software updates for your device to ensure that your device and all your apps are running on the latest software update. This is also needed for most devices after the 3G shutdown.
  2. Ensure that your LTE/VoLTE data is turned on cellular data settings, as this reverts the device network to the 4G/5G network. You'll need to navigate to Settings>Connections>Mobile networks>on
  3. Add Access Point Names(ACP) by navigating to Settings>Wireless & Networks, More Networks, or Connections>Mobile Networks>Access Point Names. This programs your non AT&T device data settings to help you use your data and troubleshoot your device after the 3G shutdown.

If this doesn't work, let us know the model number of your device and if your device is an AT&T device or unlocked device to better assist you.

Thank you for reaching out to the AT&T Community Forums!

Thank you for your prompt and professional reply :)

Talked to tech via Skype.

Apparently I need a new SIM card..

Phone is updated and APN is as you described it.

The phone model is still compatible Note 9.

I still like it lol :))

I went to AT&T store in Phoenix

Wanted to get a new SIM card to fix the problem with no calls..

Funny story when they scanned EMI # of my Note 9 N960 " compatable" and the new sim card the girl told me the system dont accept it.

Then we called crevice prepaid from the store and a lady managed to make MY PHONE CALL AND RING...

BUT short lived few min later the same issue ..so I TURNED OFF AND ON AGAIN and I WAS ABLE TO PLACE FEW CALLS..

BUT next morning THE SAME

ONCLE SAM CUT ME OFF LOL

WHAT ON EARTH IS GOING ON???

MY PHONE IS COMPATABLE PERIOD!!!

JUST PLEASE DONT DO THIS THERE ARE MANY OTHER PEOPLE AFFECTED BY THIS "CHANGE"

I STILL WANT TO USE MY PHONE AND IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH YOUR SETTINGS NOT MINE..

APN type:  default,mms,supl,hipri

This simply is not an option there in my settings..

So it should be the SIM card not the phone Note 9

Here is another user saying...

"It's not the phone. It's the damn SIM card inside the phone. Mine is Note 8 DOES work with VoLTE. If the option isn't visible it's because your service provider is as retarded as mine and they don't realize your SIM card isn't compatible.."
