Activation Problem

I too received the following message when I tried to make a call. You've reached this message because there was a problem with your activation , please return to your place of purchase . I purchased my phones for my daughters from Target online. I also activated the phones and was giving a number after I paid. Now they don’t work. Paid for two phone activation on one account.

Your phone wasn't scanned out as sold by the retailer, so At&t has blocked them.

If you have your receipt or order info, call at&t.  Tell them you purchased your phone's online from Target and you are now having a point of purchase error and the phones are blocked. They will need your order number or information off of your packing slip or order form in order to activate the phones

So I took the advice, went to the AT&T store with receipt in hand. Rep at store stated that they were limited on what they can do and called prepaid customer service. After a lengthy hold, they stated that I would have to return to the retailer and that there was nothing that they could do. Called Target customer service and spoke with a supervisor there as well, stated that I must go into a Target store since they had no means of activating a phone at the customer service level. Went into my local Target store... the only thing that I could do was to return the two phones that I had purchased for my daughters, buy two new phones from Target, have them scan them the proper way and call back into AT&T to have the phone lines/account transferred over to the new phones. Lesson learned here, buying online from Target for phones is not a good idea. They obviously don't have their process down yet. At least this is now resolved... However, the advise that I received did not resolve my problem. AT&T Prepaid customer service could not get past the retailer's activation issue. In my case, it could not be resolved by a phone call or by visiting an AT&T store.
