What is the incentive for staying with this ATT&T?
I have been using AT&T since it was once Cingulair. And I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for. So I never mind paying a little more to get better service with you my plans. But now my two year contract is up. Like I have done in the past I want trade my phone up and sign up again. However I was told that now I can just trade my old galaxy s3 up and get a discount on something like a s5. I have to pay out right for it, and still sign another contract. I dont get why I would want to do that? Why would I wanna pay more when I already budget my phone bill for the past 2 years. The plan fine, the cycel of every two year I can upgrade my phone to the newest hottest device for max $200, has always had a charm. Why cant I do that anymore with out be penialized? I figure staying with the company means something. I just feel like just another faceless number.

Same concept. Have you ever signed a contract for service at a car dealer? My point to every post was it is your responsibility to know what your buying and how much it will cost. You didn't and you want to complain. it is clearly stated everywhere that this is how the plans work. Call it a penalty for choosing subsidy prices, call it a discount for not... it doesn't matter. If you do not know what you are signing and spending money no one else is to blame. It is not unfair, it is not deceptive. You seemed to miss the whole point. I am not going to recieve anymore updates on this thread. Sarcasm is another "free" service I offer

read the contract I would be in the same condition as the many other AT&T
unappreciated customers.
Still my choice and right to point out the injustice.
If you do not pay for a car in full...you sign a "contract" to agree to
pay. But, with AT & T, the ask is to sign a contract and pay more.

There is no injustice here. You have a choice. Buy the phone outright/NEXT program and you a discount on your monthly bill for that line or get a 2 yr contract and don't get the discount. You have a choice. They are not forcing you to buy a phone.

The contract does not say Microsoft Outlook is going to be hooked to not work properly. AT&T wants you to view all their advertising!
Today I called 1-800 288-2020 and got a "NEW" answering system. No more recorded "I will look that up", The lady says call Microsoft. I asked her when I could canccel AT&T and she gave me the date to exit U Verse. . If 500 people started calling that number every day I wonder what AT&T will do next.
If you use Outlook when you create a sub aaccoubt you can also oput in an alais. I put in the E Mail address of one of the accounts in Outlook and I get mail thru the alais. I don't think AT&T or Yahoo can hook that one since they created it and it is in use by many.
Good commuinicating.

I concur with the OP, the incentives are not right.
I have concluded that the incentives are such that I am encouraged to:
1. not buy a new phone from AT&T, but get one used;
2. consider a budget carrier for those employees who do not have high data demands;
3. not buy a phone that has AT&T crapware, Knox, or a locked bootloader. I.e. Google Nexus, OnePlus One etc.
The games that AT&T played (and still plays) with data are such that I have realized that the benefits of customer loyalty are apparently not appreciated by AT&T, therefore I no longer feel the need for carrier loyalty.
Today I got the new Lollipop update for one of our S4 phones. What are you thinking AT&T?
That deserves a separate thread.

No doubt all carriers suck but if you live in a major metropolitan area you can go with anyone. My beef isnt over the NEXT plan other than the phones never last the leangth of the term. My beef is the amount of time it takes to resolve any issue. Last i checked we have but one life. They get paid to deal with us, we dont get paid to spend so much time dealing with them... Its a waste of time. My opinion is that ATT should step up their customer service game and fix that.
They do play games with the data through software updates etc. My guess is all carriers play that game.
