What is the incentive for staying with this ATT&T?

I have been using AT&T since it was once Cingulair. And I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for. So I never mind paying a little more to get better service with you my plans. But now my two year contract is up. Like I have done in the past I want trade my phone up and sign up again. However I was told that now I can just trade my old galaxy s3 up and get a discount on something like a s5. I have to pay out right for it, and still sign another contract. I dont get why I would want to do that? Why would I wanna pay more when I already budget my phone bill for the past 2 years. The plan fine, the cycel of every two year I can upgrade my phone to the newest hottest device for max $200, has always had a charm. Why cant   I do that anymore with out be penialized? I figure staying with the company means something. I just feel like just another faceless number.

I envy you then. I changed my cell plans to decrease costs only to see them increase by 11% and change my internet to reduce costs only to see my connection speed cut in half, even though I'm supposed to be paying for a faster speed. (I'm paying for 18mbs and receiving 4mbs)

Truthfully its my own fault, I should have kept the DSL line and paid the full price for a new phone to keep my grandfathered rate plan. I work in marketing...should have known better than to believe the lines they fed me.

Thanks for the update.

Unfortunately I do not share what you are saying about some of the AT&T
rehabilitation you say they are implementing.

I moved into AT&T land 4 years ago and started service. I use Outlook 2010
as my E mail client and it worked perfectly. Support which was rarely
needed was good.

In February of this year I switched to U Verse 18 MBPS and land line after
being told the old DSL program was being phased out. Whoops. I changed
plans 3 times in February and by mistake an AT&T employ sent me a PDF file
out limning all their programs. Yes, what I had asked for was there. I got
it and am a bit ashamed to say I SHOUTED.

My E Mail quit working and was told to use web mail. AT&T gets you to view
advertising with their apps. Microsoft Office is not cheap!

Outlook has 2 accounts for polecat74@att.net. One has the (1) after it?????
Can't delete it.

Their techie's usually read off a piece of paper to get you up and running.
Low paid Filipino's. Little or no help.

Using Yahoo servers may be a mistake?

I printed out all the data AT&T had on using Outlook and other E Mail apps.

I did get to tier 2 Tech support once and they were unable to fix the
connection.

I have about 30 years of computer experience. I have programmed.

Yesterday morning was the last straw so I went in and fixed things myself.
They will never find out and I did not do ANY DAMAGE.

Your E mail came thru polecat74@att.net which quit working and they could
not fix. It works now.

I can still not configure any E mail client ion Outlook.

You are correct about Comcast and others playing us for fools.

I pay my bills electronically but am ready to go back to the check book.

The Internet is free at the library.

I am not sure who you are but would like to know yu better.

Every day is a good day

Ken Volz the polecat with over 15 E Mail accounts at different sites.

I stand by my experience with AT&T. They could be a great cpmpamy.

If you are happy with paying a penalty for loyalty, then you are the
perfect type of customer that AT&T is looking to retain. People expect
different types of relationships with companies that they pay for a
service...I expect honest and open pricing policies not strategies to
manipulate consumers.

AT&T has done an excellent of job of convincing its' followers that their
prices are fair. I wonder who is doing the marketing plan...because they
have earned their bonus this year.

If something is advertised as $0...
and you choose that option...
and it costs you $25 per month for that option (remember it was quoted as
FREE)
unless you pay $10 per month (REMEMBER IT WAS ADVERTISED AS FREE) to not be
in contract

How is this not a penalty or bait and switch or fraud?

I have a novice idea...HONEST Pricing...

But, if you can create a mathematical formula that makes $0=more than $0,
you are the perfect AT&T consumer.

You are 100% correct.  It is amazing to see how many people that it is perfectly acceptable to pay more money for the exact same service...to make it worse they are not even increasing the cost of the dataplan...but talk and text???? Who even talks on the phone anymore?

TMobile has more competitively rates and more data for your money. I have already priced out what I already have with AT&T against TMobile. I will save $30 a month and have nonshared data on all my phones. Right now I have 2 phones sharing 3gb and 3 without data. My first phone will have 5gb of unthrottled data and the other 4 phones will have 2gb unthrotled data. A total of 13gb. Not only that you have to pay extra to have smartphones on AT&T. So if all my phones were smartphones I would be paying another $45 a month.
