What is the incentive for staying with this ATT&T?

I have been using AT&T since it was once Cingulair. And I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for. So I never mind paying a little more to get better service with you my plans. But now my two year contract is up. Like I have done in the past I want trade my phone up and sign up again. However I was told that now I can just trade my old galaxy s3 up and get a discount on something like a s5. I have to pay out right for it, and still sign another contract. I dont get why I would want to do that? Why would I wanna pay more when I already budget my phone bill for the past 2 years. The plan fine, the cycel of every two year I can upgrade my phone to the newest hottest device for max $200, has always had a charm. Why cant   I do that anymore with out be penialized? I figure staying with the company means something. I just feel like just another faceless number.

i am out of contract and am paying same amount as when I was in contract. If I go to the next program, I still pay the same amount. everyone now offers only next. sounds like colusion.

How do you figure that? If you buy a new phone and have a legacy plan, you will pay the same as you do now in addition to paying for your phone.

Switch to a current plan and buy a new phone and receive a discount on your service. From another thread, you say you have multiple lines. You get the "out of contract" discount on all of them, even if you only buy one new phone by switching plans. Put pencil to paper and compare what you could pay to what you pay now. You will either pay about the same (all new phones) as you do now on your legacy plan, or in some cases (15 GB or more data and multiple lines), less.

And every auto dealer finances new cars. Are they all in colusion?

Then you must be on an old plan.

I pay for service only, $263 with tax for 6 phones and 2 tablets and a promotional 30 GBs of data for $130.

Thats an average of $33 per line for 8 lines.

you should do some math on buying a phone under a contract sometimes you wind up paying more for the phone then as if you were to buy it outright!!!

@ganto2014

contracts are a moot point now.  its either next or full retail and next is full retail split up into payments.
