Voicemail has been hacked and att tech support could not fix it

My voicemail has been hacked or bugged or something. There is a extremely graphic greeting. I cannot fix it. Went to the att store they tried all they knew. Then they said sorry, call tech support. I spent 3 hrs on the phone with 3 different people. First he said my IMEI or something was messed up. Then he kept trying other things. Told me to hang on, then he hung up on me!

I’m about ready to tell att to shove all 3 of my XR’s. I’ve been a loyal customer for over 20 years. I’m fed up. I have tried everything I could find on the net and in the Useless manual!

I even tried to have VM turned off. I was told I can’t do that.

I don’t care if you have to delete my VM and I can set it back up later. Or just disable my VM on 0806.

This is a customer-to-customer message board. No one from AT&T will see your post.

This is a customer populated forum, not at&t. they can absolutely reset your voicemail. It will erase all VM messages. You have to call

when I called, they said they did reset it.

But there was no change. I’m just fed up with the run around and am hoping they have someone (Edited per community guidelines) these posts. Most big companies do.

I hate to lose my number I’ve had over 20 years. But if I have to I will. Have had numerous issues over the years but didn’t want to give up my number.

So I stuck it out. But I’m just about done with it.

The one tech even told me “this is going to take a while so open a bottle of wine and relax, while I check into it. “

Not sure he was trying to be funny to lighten the mood or just oblivious to my level or seriousness.

I use my phone for work. And to think my boss (who was the one who notified me of the issue) or customers, heard that.....greeting

It is extremely pornographic.

If they reset it it should give you access to record a new voicemail message

I did re-record a new greeting and I agree it should have fixed it. But NOPE!

When I check my greeting, it is the one I made but when someone calls..... it’s the dirty greeting. It also says I have no messages when I try to check my mail. But when calling from another number (once in a while) it will say mailbox is full. If it doesn’t say that, it is the dirty greeting.

I’m trying voicemail apps now, maybe they will work. Fingers crossed!

Well that's bizarre.
It sounds like maybe someone has changed the voicemail number that's connected to your main number. AT&T voicemail works by forwarding voicemail to a second number.
The voicemail number would show in your usage reports.
May I suggest you get yourself a Google Voice account and have all of your messages forwarded to your GV number.

I had the EXACT same issue. I spent a couple hours with ATT Support who could not solve the problem. (Even after deleting/setting-up my VM box again).

The problem may (mine was) be associated with the Robokiller App. If you've downloaded/installed it at some point, it has an auto-forward feature that sends bogus calls to a random greeting. You can go to this website, follow instructions (even if you've deleted app from your phone) and fix it.

https://support.robokiller.com/hc/en-us/articles/360027065591-How-can-I-disable-RoboKiller-on-my-phone-

Worked for me.
