UNREASONABLE PERMISSIONS FOR VISUAL VOICEMAIL

I ATTEMPTED TO SET UP THE VISUAL VOICEMAIL ON MY NEW S7. IT REQUIRES ME TO GIVE "ALLOW VISUAL VOICEMAIL  TO ACCESS PHOTOS, MEDIA, AND FILES ON YOUR DEVICE?" WHY DO I NEED TO ALLOW THIS? I NEVER HAD TO USE VM IN THE PAST. I AM CHATTING WIHT ALBERT WHO ASSURES ME THAT VISUAL VOICEMAIL WILL NOT ACCESS MY PERSONAL DATA THAT IT JUST DOES IT FOR NOTIFICATIONS. IF THIS IS TRUE WHY DO I NEED TO ALLOW ACCESS? IF I ALLOW ACCESS AND THEN FIND THAT IT DID ACCESS MY PERSONAL DATA; EVEN THOUGH ALBERT ASSURES ME IT WILL NOT, WHAT RECOURSE DO I HAVE SINCE I WAS FORCED INTO GIVING IT PERMISSION?

Hello @tj1122,

I definitely understand the concern with Visual Voicemail on your device! I apologize for any inconvenience, and I would be more than happy to provide some information on this.

Visual Voicemail is a feature offered by AT&T which allows voice messages to be displayed in a list on the screen, and played and paused. One of the benefits is in an instance which information from the message needs to be saved to your device; it requires access to your personal storage. Rest assured, no information is taken out of your personal storage unless requested by you.

We also have the option of Basic Voicemail in which you simply press and hold the 1 key, enter your password and listen to your recorded voicemails as it was originally designed. If you would prefer to get this set up, please let us know, and we can set up a time to connect and adjust the settings on your account.

I hope this helps! Please feel free to reach back out if you have any further questions or concerns. Have a great day!
