unable to use any MMI codes

I'd like to disable the conditional call forwarding that I set up several years ago in order to use Google Voice as my voicemail provider, but when attempting to use the MMI code ##004# as suggested, I get the error:

"Error performing request, Unknown Error", followed by a series of several other errors, one for each feature being disabled.

I'm using an unlocked iphone6s and have had the same sim for several years, having used it previously with an at&t iphone 5s. I suspect something might be screwy with my account after changing phones.

Any advice appreciated!

Hi, GooseYArd,

There are two ways to disable call forwarding on your iPhone 6. You can go into settings and turn it off there. You can also dial #21# to disable forwarding. Your phone should display a confirmation message when it's deactivated.

We hope you're having a great week.

hm, if I try using #21#, I get the same error message as before
(screenshot attached)

I've tried a few of the suggestions- disabling WiFi, turning off LTE
calling, etc, but no dice. I've also confirmed that the call
forwarding setting is off in the settings menu.

By the way- I realized I'd misstated that I wanted to disable call
forwarding, but should have said selective call forwarding. I've been
using Google Voice Voicemail forwarding for a while but would like to
disable it now; most of the documentation I saw while searching for
how to do that mentioned the ##004# code.

Thanks for the assistance!

Hello @GooseYArd,

Thank you for informing us. You can Learn how to deactivate Select Call Forwarding here. When you deactivate, you can choose to either save or delete your list of forwarded numbers.

  • To save your list - simply hang up.
  • To remove your entire list - dial 08, then hang up.
  • To remove all private numbers - dial 09, then hang up.
  • Note: In some locations, you must press 3 to turn Selective Call Forwarding on or off.

Let us know if you have any further questions or concerns.

That link appears to be for residential telephone service and not AT&T wireless service.

Specifically, the issue I am having is that a few years ago I enabled voice mail forwarding in order to have my missed calls go to google voice. Now I'd like to deactivate that, and although every document I can find indicates the the code "**004*" is used to unset the forwarding, which gives me a "your call cannot be completed as dialed" message.

If instead I use ##004#, I get a gray error screen with:

Error performing request

 Unknown Error

Setting Erase Failed

Voice Call Forwarding

All Conditional Calls

Setting Eraseure Failed

Data Call Forwarding

All Conditional Calls

Setting Erasure Failed

Fax Call Forwaring

All Conditional Calls

Setting Errasure Failed

SMS Call Fowarding

All Conditional Calls

(several other similar errors).

So i feel fairly confident that the ##004# is the correct one, but that some issue is preventing the settings change from being made. In another article I found by searching, someone mentioned that if the IMEI number on the account didn't match that of the phone, this particular error would occur. This is interesting because I did change phones about a year ago and just swapped my sim into the new phone. I suspect perhaps I needed to make some other change in my account as well, but I'm clueless.
