Studying in the UK

I have an AT&T eSIM for my US number   Will be using a Physical SIM for a local UK number

Want to activate the Phyical SIM when in the UK and disable ( not delete) my US eSIM.    Then when I am back in the US enable my eSIM again.    So how to a switch back and forth on the two SIMs so I do not incur roaming or delete my AT&T eSIM
